I went out and dug the boxes out of the garbage. It seems I have big block springs in front. I swore I ordered small block springs. So this is a problem.

herein lies the problem with swearing, it always leads to more swearing... however, you do have a BBC in your parts carOriginally posted by Scott Liggett View PostI went out and dug the boxes out of the garbage. Parts car? It's my DD when I work on this one. I'm going to get out the cut off wheel and make some noise.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

It's gasser time. I'm hitting the nostalgia drags this weekend!! With the mush rear springs, it might actually hook up this time.

Scott: that's a look lots of folks wouldn't object to -- in fact, there's some who would strive for it.
But you're not "lots of folks", right?
I wonder how much things will settle up front over several days? The new leaf springs I put under the rear of the Cyclone several months ago first gave a real stink bug look, but have since settled appreciably.
Good luck at the nostalgia event.Michael from Hampton RoadsComment

It may settle maybe 1/2 to 1" max. Thats all the new springs settled on the Caprice. This car is for hauling butt around corners and the gasser aint going to cut it.Originally posted by mlcraven View PostScott: that's a look lots of folks wouldn't object to -- in fact, there's some who would strive for it.

Scott, nice looking parts! Do yourself a favor. On your strut rods don't use poly bushings. At least on Fords, it's a known fact that they will cause the strut rod to fail. I recently ordered some parts for my Mustang, I just haven't had time to work on it so I haven't posted anything thing. I bought a new front sway bar, fancy smancy UCA, springs and front struts that have a spherical end to allow smooth movement as well as added adjustability to increase caster which is a big problem on early Mustangs due to the lack of it. I'm saving up for a set of fancy smancy lower control arms.Last edited by Huskinhano; July 4, 2012, 07:53 PM.TomOverdrive is overrated

The problem with this scenario is the spring rate. You will have very little front suspension travel. To make it decent to ride in you want softer springs and a large anti-sway bar. You want some compliance in the front end unless you are only going to turn corners on billard table smooth courses. That is unless I'm completely full of crap.Originally posted by SuperBuickGuy View Postthen cut it.... 1 1/2 coils should do it

I have hotchkis springs on the front of my Buick, and when I replaced them they were easier to put in because they were physically shorter - so normally, I'd agree with you - however notice the length of his new spring (and the wire diameter) vs. the old spring.... seriously, it's just longerOriginally posted by OldMachinist View PostThe problem with this scenario is the spring rate.
