    Re: Rebel(Dryver)'s Machines

I don't think I'd get any thanks from Matt or keep my place in line if I posted his email and phone number here. I purposely left those out of the previous post I made of email to me earlier this week.

Ive check piston to valve clearance without the clay many times. I put the Cly at TDC, assemble the head, gasket and torque. then assm the pushrod and rocker arm. then i place a dial indicator on the rocker arm, SLOWLEY tighten the valve and you can read the clearance. this works really good when swapping to a bigger cam without pulling the heads.
sorry for the hijack, thought this may be helpful to someone.

I had to work on my neighbors 73 Monte today to distract me from having to wait for the FedEx guy to show up. When he did, he looked more like Santa than a delivery guy.

I had to take a pic of the parts. I added my roller rockers as well. I always thought those pics of piles of shiney parts in front of the project car were always so cool.

Makes me smile just looking at them.

Can't wait to hear how it runs. What kind of power are you thinking?

@480 hp and 450 ft lbs of torque. That's from Comps dyno software. I didn't put in the info; they did.

                    Re: Rebel(Dryver)'s Machines

I just bought 2 motors for a couple guys. The guy that built them used Comps software and it predicted 415hp. One dynoed at 411hp, the other at 416hp. He said his motors end up within 5% of what the software says.

I built a 383SBC for a friend and used a flat tappet cam with similar specs to your cam with smaller Iron Eagle heads. 3600lb car w/o driver went 12.1 @ 114mph with open exhaust.

I think your power numbers might be on the low side.

Looks like its coming together pretty good, should end up being a blast to drive getting more hp, How long do you think the rear skins will last ;D

Not long. They've been on there a while, like about 8 years.

More delays as the rockers I bought are smacking the valve springs and the Comps I need are not in stock. > > > > >. Can you tell I don't have patience in waiting on parts?
