if it is the throw out, it's good to fix it early. Otherwise you can do what I did, ignore it and have to replace the pressure plate as well (and the clutch disk) because it wears the fingers off

At the car wash the car wouldn't start. Low battery juice. So I checked the cables at the battery. Positive cable terminal was broken. Wouldn't take a jump start even using vice grips holding it together. Even tried hot starting the car at the solenoid. Didn't work. Figured the starter was done in too. So, I push started it in reverse out of the car wash. It was down hill that way. Not a smart move considering the 2.70 reverse gear that is straight cut and made of aluminum. It fired but it was violent. Drove up to parts store in town. Did some testing there. Fixed battery terminal. Redid some battery cable ends in the trunk and up front. Fired instantly with no jump. Battery still had 12.80 volts through all this.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

I would consider group 31, I believe it is called.. It is a large battery.. Merely bigger than a normal car battery..except the posts are 3/8 threaded steel.. 9/16 wrench on the nuts.. Not the huge 2 ft by 4 ft semi batteries
Use 2 in derby cars. 900-1000CCA..
Used to lose cables where they clamped at the clamps or the clamps (lead) would melt..
With these batteries, we have no more problems.. Over the road trucks use those in tandem for 24 volt starting systems.. We wire them to run 12..
If I remember, I'll snap a pic and email it to ya!Comment

Thanks for the info. But, the battery is great. It's my wiring that sucked. The battery still had near 13 volts even though the cable terminal was broke. I have a much better one on there now.Originally posted by Deaf Bob View PostI would consider group 31, I believe it is called.. It is a large battery.. Did the big ground wire from engine to frame seem to help?My fabulous web page

No answer to that. I had the negative battery cable connected to the bolts that held the battery box to the frame. When I reconnected the battery yesterday I was getting juice from the bolts to the box. Kind of sketchy. And scary. So I moved the negative cable to a different location yesterday as well.Originally posted by squirrel View PostDid the big ground wire from engine to frame seem to help?

I think I have fixed my starting problems. The car runs right at 14 volts, even heat soaked. I ran errands the last two in 99* temps and never had an issue.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Thanks. I was wondering why your quote above says all my photos went missing. I looked and they are still there. They are still in the original message I posted. Strange.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver
