Its' been going around that Java has been hacked and the updates that are often set to do so automatically will download a virus. It has issues of late.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Came home from Pheonix to a pile of boxes in my living room. My neighbor who feeds my cat was nice enough to haul them inside. The wheels came in.
Test fitted the rears, the ones I was most worried about fitment. There is more room than I was expecting. Though I may have to do some fender lip massaging. And, the bulge in the frame that goes around the spring pocket may have to get smashed by a big freaking hammer.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Um. No. I got home at 5:30 tonight. I wanted to prefit them before mounting the tires. Once I mount them, I cant return either the wheels or the tires.Originally posted by squirrel View PostAre the tires on the new wheels already?BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Added a ground strap. OK, it's a ground cable. Can't be too big, right?

Then did my upper body workout today. Those NP A833's are pretty hefty when you are working alone without a trans jack. It was leaking from the bearing cover and the rear seal.....and the speedo gear housing, and the expansion plug. It got new seals and a bit of RTV. I think the rear seal leak is more caused by the pitted, grooved drive shaft yoke.

The clutch can was full of oil. Got some cleaning.

The good news is somehow the clutch is dry and not oil fouled. Took some 220 grit to the flywheel to knock off the glazing and put it all back in.

Originally, I thought the back of the oil pan gasket or the rear main were leaking. I tried sometime ago to get some RTV and made a mess. Cleaned all the crap off.

That pic was taken after I did some degreasing. I know I was losing gear oil from the rear seal of the trans, plus the expansion plug and speedo gear housing. Most likely, the rear main is leaking a bit. I only lose about a quart of oil every 1000 miles.Originally posted by Admirall2 View PostAny ideas on the source of the leak? It amazes me how much dirt can build up on a tiny bit of oil. My car barely uses any oil, like a 1/2 to 1 quart per 4,000 miles, but you'd swear the thing uses a quart per 500 miles by the dirt build up under there.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

Putting on the big 18's provided a bit of a challenge. But, just the fronts. The fender extensions were hitting the tires when turning the wheels. I did a bit of cutting and grinding to fix the problem.

The one of the left is the one cut a bit. When done it was hard to tell I did anything.

Here's the finished product. Amazingly, the rears bolted and don't touch a thing. The fronts may need a bit more trimming. I heard a rub when entering a driveway pretty quickly.
