The first ones had the mopar bolt pattern for the bell housing, then they all had the standard GM pattern. The first versions need the specific bellhousing. The later ones can use the standard bellhousing, but you have to mill down the bearing cover to fit, which is what I did. The option code was MY6 and the gear ratio 3.06/1.82/ 1.0/0.74.

    This car has a 383.
    Why this over the 700R4?
    Stronger? More plentiful, or what?

Auto trans are for old ladies.

I wanted a stick so I changed the car. This trans I got in a package deal through a friend of a friend and was a mistake. Long story, but thought I was getting a Muncie. Used it anyways cause I had it and it worked.

Don't know much about Moopars... And the "od" my mind just wandered to auto because of the "A" ahead of the 833...
Muncies are a little scarce.. Or hi dollar..

The A833 was the four speed stuck behind the Mopar V8's back in the day. Later the A833OD got put in pickups mostly, though I have heard they were in Aspens, Volares here and there in the late 70's.

Yes, the OD does designate overdrive. The trans gearset was changed to be an overdrive. The weird part is that the 3-4 gears are reversed inside. The shift plate for the 3-4 gears is upside down to the other A833's.

After puking my lunch after an hour of work today; I finally got my new fans wired up with the new harness. I'll take a few pics tomorrow in the daylight.

I think I will need a new alternator. Even though mine is supposed to be a factory GM 105 amp., I'm not so sure. Hitting the fan switch caused the engine to stumble. Like my MSD is suddenly not getting enough juice to fire the plugs.

Got the wiring done. Here are some closeups. The wiring kit came with one plug for the fans. Mattson sent me another one but without wires, so I made the second one wrapped in electrical tape.

The relay and wire harness are pretty simple. The red wire powers the fans, the big yellow wire goes to the battery through the circuit breaker. Mattson said that I didn't need two relays for dual fans. All I needed was the circuit breaker. Since they sold me the fans and the wiring harness, I trust them.

This little gray wire goes to a temp sensor switch which I am currently working on a idea to install it. The heads don't have any provisions for temp sensors and the stuff on the intake is being used. For now, I just zipped tied the wire out of the way and grounded it.

You want to test how good your fans are. I put the instruction sheet behind the grille about 12" from the radiator then turned on the fans. They sucked that piece of paper right to the radiator. My last fans would barely keep a piece of paper against the radiator.

I also jacked up the car and ran the engine to find the oil leak. It was the back of the oil pan. All the bolts were loose, but I put some RTV back there to be sure. I have the one piece oil pan gasket. Leak gone.... for now.

MEGA SUCTION...good deal (you'll have to do pre-start-up FOD checks and keep small children away from the front of the car).

105 watts isn't alot by todays standard. The cs144 upgrade on your to do list? Do you have big enough ground and hot wires going everywhere?

I forgot one pic. I painted the upper radiator bracket yesterday. I didn't bother grinding it or anything as I may add to the design. But, winter is coming and we get fog nearly every night and will be rusted soon if I didn't paint it.

So, I hit the autocross at the Goodguys show in Del Mar yesterday to test out suspension upgrades. The track had very long sorta straights which meant I had to shift up or bounce off the rev limiter. But, the turns were so sharp; all the way to lock on the first left. That meant back into first gear. My carb was not happy either. The car backfired and stalled on the first run. Knocked down a bunch of cones the first two runs. Kept Chad's daughter, Peyton, busy shucking cones.

Finally made a clean run, but it was slow.

After talking with someone smarter than me; we came up with a plan to to place the temp switch for the fans. We were going to drill and tap the intake in the front under and to the right of the water neck where a blind bolt hole that goes straight towards it. Drilling it larger and tapping into the intake's water jacket, then tapping it for the 3/8" pipe thread seems like an easy plan.

You can see it in this pic.

Then I got to thinking. Yes, that was a bad thing. I figured since I would have the intake off maybe I should open the intake's ports to match the head's ports. Then, I was thinking that maybe I should get a better intake that better matches the rpm range of the heads.

Can you see that snow ball forming now?
