Is that a dual pass radiator? They want more flow capability than a single pass as the have more internal restriction. You'll also likely want a highr pressure cap, I run a 22# Stant Racing lever style.

You can take a temperature reading almost anywhere in the system as long as its exposed to constant water flow (not measuring hot air) but, I've had poor luck with the between the fins probe deals. I have used a inline welded bung succesfully to look at afetr radiator return temps. I did the drill and tap the manifold crossover process to add an additional sensor for the EFI in addition to the mechanical guage.

I used a little Hayden thermostatic controller until it died from being water soaked in heavy rain and now I just use a switch with a relay and an inline fuse for the water pump and the single fan. You could add a relay and fuse for each fan off a single throw diuble pole switch if you think that kind of redundancy is needed. I have a second relay relay connected to other hot on my OEM JY Mark VIII fan which the factory used for A/C override. That one is connected to the ECU I have a DPDT switch for the fan so only one circuit can be hot at a time. The theroy was to have the ECU turn on the fan based on temp range, but I've jsut stuck with manual mode.

I know the price was right but I'm not thrilled with the drilled out flush mount 'shroud'. You would be better served by a true shroud with the appropriate spacing to the radiator core, but I'm sure you know that.

I am not thrilled with the fan shroud either. I wonder if my other one fits better.

the dummy switch I'm using is in the intake water passage that turns on at 185*. It's wired as the switch on a relay that runs the fans

Not sure how much they cost, but I typed "thermostat spacer" into google image, and the first ones look like they would do the trick... even come with threaded holes for fittings.

Not sure if $30 is an acceptable price for the solution to your problem... but the other price I saw for a different brand of the same thing was $50.

Those are for hooking coolant lines from the rear cross flow that nearly every aftermarket intake blocks directly to the water neck. You drill and tap holes in the intake for AN fittings above the coolant passages at the back of the head and bring the hot water directly forward. A friend runs those on his serious engines.

Scott, have you driven the Imp with the new radiator? I'm wondering how much fan you really need? I recall a post, forget where, I think it was on the Mustang forum I hang out on, a guy was running a big aluminum radiator and really didn't need a fan, even in city driving. Maybe one aux fan with a simple on-off switch for those times on a hot day in stop n go driving.

The other fans I had on it allowed the temp to creep up when sitting in traffic. They were cheap china ones I got locally. This radiator dropped the temps instantly once the car is moving which the old radiator wouldnt do. It ran at 160* on the trip to norcal a couple weeks back down the interstate with the fans off. This fan shroud isnt helping things.

I broke dad of "here pee in the can" when I filled up a quart bottle and half the carpet. We got to stop at McDonalds then. Don't order your hamburger without onions, just scrape them off. It takes too long if you order your food the way you WANT to eat it.

Yeah, I'm familiar. Now he can't make it 100 miles without needing to pee... terribly tempting except if he peed himself, it would be my seat getting wet. haha.

Banos? Isn't that where you pay the beer rent? Like the pee bank?

No peeing in a bottle for us. Mom would never put up with that. But, Moms kidneys went into overdrive halfway through a cup of coffee.

Just got around to reading your road trip story. Great write up as usual! Nice personal history touch to it. Glad nothing tragic occured from the front end work.

My Dad would load my brother and I up into the car or van around 3am where we would promptly go back to sleep and by the time we woke up we'd nearly be to our destinations (usually the trips weren't more than 5 hours away).

Dad would do that to us. He liked to hit the road early. He called it "Oh Dark Thirty". I would say "OMG it's early!" Wake up long enough to drag our pillows to the car and go back to sleep.

Mom went over to Rio Vista Muffler with her car today and showed them the story. They printed it and hung it on the wall.
