    Next years build

I know running a Buick is a little odd. I could see that by the number that showed up to Drag Week but I love my car and it got me through my first Drag Week trouble free. Now I want to build a motor to be a little more competitive and run in the 10's. Any suggestions on how to put a 455 together to do this would be helpful.

Lots of them, but the best bit of advice would be to suggest visiting V8Buick.com and go to the racing section. There's some guys there that are going unbelievably fast..... also where this hack named SuperBuickguy is building some twin turbo, fuel injected monstrosity out of a 455
Doing it all wrong since 1966

Best advice on the net is dont listen to people on the Net. Call T/A performance and explain what you want, I would lower my expectaions some. Running 10s in a full sized Buick that will make the drives is a very tall order. Thats a real car not some internet Mystery car. Second best advice to run tens, and cheapest, put a BBC in it.

First to run in the .90s .80s and .70's in SBN/A

I was just going to say put a SBC in it........but you beat me to it.......

Edit: I suppose if he wanted to go 10's he could do the BBC, but if he is after 9's in a full weight car, definately do the SBC!!!

I think running the Buick is cool and is exactly what the event is about; building your ride your way and then making it go faster.

I don't know Buicks so anything I say here is generic.

              1. Bigger, if possible build a stroker to what ever size can be built and be reliable.

              2. Weight loss. Whatever can be removed without killing the vibe you want to maintain.

              3. Is spraying it a possibility?

              4. Improved cylinder heads and induction with a well coordinated cam change.

              5. Compression, with aluminum heads you can usually jump a full point and stay with pump gas. Beyond that requires an effcient combustion chamber and appropriate cam timing events.

              6. Assuming its an automatic, a converter that stalls at or slightly above your new torque peak and rear gears that get you to redline in the traps with the tire you need to hook it up.

              7. A BOP 200R4 or similar so you can get down the road with OD or in the alternative a BOP T350 or 400 with a Gear vendors, space and budget permitting.

              8. A big exhaust with the largest case size mufflers that'll fit.

When you call TA performance - ask for Randal's discount!

Hey, do what I say not what I do, ya know?

On, that topic, my doctor has finally found a way to get me off the dime and to lose the other 40 pounds I need to lose. No weight loss, and he won't sign NHRA physical form next year. Ouch, but he's right.

just do a couple more drag weeks. I lost 20 pounds thrashing the week before and during drag week.
Drag Week 2012 (wet paint and no transmission but finished) Drag Week 2013 Daily Driver finished in middle of pack (again) Drag Week 2014 #56 of 126 Daily Drivers. (getting closer to the 32)

You the green Buick I saw and briefly talked to at the Wayside in Iowa? (Triumph TR6 here) Glad your Dragweek went well, are you thinking N/A or power adder?

You could start by putting a Holley on it
                            1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 340 with a 360
1997 Jeep Cherokee off road toy/driver. lifted, lockers, stroked 4.0

Ten's? You're killing me smalls! I'm shooting to go bottom 12's next year, with some port work, bigger cam and maybe steeper gears (and bigger fuel pump!). I doubt I'll have the suspension work for solid 11's even if I have the HP capabilities.

And John, I've only maxed out a gold card there, there is still platinum!
                              Escaped on a technicality.
