Ten most beautiful cars of all time- they say!

This one was really nice. A guy I went to high school with, his family was well off enough to have one. So we joyrode it. For a few miles. The best thing about the car was that it was really easy to push when it broke down.

Anyhow, not my list either although I do agree with some of the picks. None of the choices were from the coachbuilt era and some of those were stunning. Maybe Joel will post up a shot or two of his Deusenberg. Also missing - any of the Virgil Exner era Mopars (I have special place in my heart for the '63 Sport Fury), birdcage Maserati, and the Yugo (just checking to see if you're awake). BBM's station wagon is, to my eye, stunning (back to Virgil). I agree with C2 'Vettes, the only one that blows my skirt up though I do think that the C4s are under-appreciated. I don't know why they used an XKE coupe pic - the roadsters were MUCH prettier.

So at the very most this list could claim to be the "10 most beautiful postwar sports cars."

I suspect the story was compiled with one title and theme, and then repackaged and republished with a new and totally inappropriate title. Just a guess.

Ok, the 63 Vette and the GT40 I tend to agree, but other than the Challenger which is still nice, they just dont do much for me. I like the F40 better than everything else on there, but that might be due to my form follows function mindset, and I like the 84 Ferrari GTO too, but not the most beautiful. They left out the Daytona coupe, but I guess not everyone wants a V8 from Shelby and Ford.

To me the 69 GTO is a thing of beauty, especially this one. I know it personally and it is absolutely beautiful.

Me, I like odd stuff ,but think nothings finer.

I love the fine lines of the 61-71 dodge D100 short wheel base pickups with the utiline (step side for you non-Dodge freaks).

The Chevy Monza with 2+2 option ,you know the quad headlights.

Any 2 door tri 5 chevy

1956 Ford Fairlane 2 doors, and 2 door wagons.

Fox body coupes.

Datsun 510 2 doors.

65 Buick Riviera
69 Mustang fastback
68 Chevelle (no apologies... why do you think I bought one?)

Just put this list through the litmus test. I showed them 1 by 1 to Tom, my 5 year old son.

A.) He knew what every one of them was (some in general terms Ferrari, Aston Martin, some specific 1963 Corvette, Ford GT, Challenger, Jag E-Type, etc).

B.) He thought they were all awesome.

Conclusion - a successful piece by the author looking to nail a huge swath of the population who "like cars" and like to have their opinions reaffirmed.

Secondary conclusion - The list has some winners (300SL, Jag E-Type, 275GTB) and mostly just backs up Scott's idea that they were just going for the "famous" stuff.

Jim, the 1967 GTO is a beautiful design. Coke bottle shape at its finest.

IMO, the people that created that list don't know any more about cars than they know about kitchen appliances. Most of those appear to be from a businessman's list, not a car guy's list.

and only one datsun 280z..err 250/275 gt plaease. ..one of those ferraris is enough on the list.

the beautiful is not the 280z part of it.. it is the 60 degree natural draft v12 wrapped nicely.

I prefer the boxier sedan type stuff,let them play with that business list.

Anybody who wants to post up anything....It's not good business sense as a writer to approach the word "best."

Okay let's play - best cars, best looking women, best place for a vacation...it's just a vacuum. But I'll say again, until I'm dead, the value is to get folks talking about it. The very idea, whichever idea it is. Whichever absurd presentation it's delivered in. It gets everybody talking about it, not that the presentation itself was meant to be taken seriously, because it just plain can't (be taken seriously). The value is in the discussion.
