Hee, Hee, Hee. Clever, but not completely logical. I've experienced u-joint failure. When the rear U-joint fails, it can damage the floorboard/tunnel until the driveshaft falls out. A front failure can cause the "pogo stick," which is serious and would interrupt the session while they tow the car, but is unlikely to cause an oil down or a long delay. A driveshaft loop could minimize the damage, but would not prevent the car from going out of the competition.Originally posted by Beagle View PostI'll make it easier for Chad -
what's the story on 325's ?
Speedy... slicks are slicks. DOT's are not slicks. Move on. If you pogo stick it, and get a body modification with drive shaft through the floorboard, it's likely that nobody will feel bad because you didn't want to invest 50.00 to save your ass. They probably will yell that you jacked up and oiled down the track. DQ is gonna suck for your DD average... not that you'll be going much further, that should set off every air bag in that store bought car.
Moreover, if indeed a loop isn't required with DOTs, it's because the NHRA and its insurer has determined there not much risk. Besides, if it were critical, wouldn't I have to have one running near home?
Two loops, even the u-fab, drill-a-bunch-of holes universal ones are going to cost more than $50. Cost isn't really the issue. Voiding the warranty is, though.
I get the distinct feeling that a number of "insiders" are hoping for my spectacular demise if by some miracle HRM allows me to run DW '12. Such a friendly place this is.Comment

Ahhh... the tooth ferry... I've heard rumors it runs between Inukjuak and Belcher Island. Supposedly, there is a big tooth industry there...It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.Comment

Are mufflers required? I will be running in the daily driver class and have never had mufflers on my old truck. The stacks seem to quiet the sound (not sure what the birds hear). Oklahoma does not have vehicle inspection, so I never bothered with mufflers.Originally posted by BangShiftChad View PostI have gotten a lot of calls and emails from folks saying that they have been having a hard time getting answers to some of their rules questions/clarifications, and I'm hoping to help out with that.
Please post your questions, clarifications, etc in this thread and I'll see what I can do.

Fixed it for ya...Originally posted by LAGNAF View Postno mufflers are not required on the dragstrip..
Remember, you will be driving in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri, too... Their LEO's might view your stacks a bit differently.

Dude, we've covered this ground a slew of times in other threads. The "insiders" were the ones who got private e-mails and even telephone calls PROMPTING THEM TO SIGN UP before the vast majority of HRM's readers knew registration was open. HRM apparently didn't follow the registration procedures of prior years, disadvantaging those "outsiders" who rely on the print magazine or only occassionally check HRM's arguably awful website.Originally posted by slimbo5 View PostWho are these insiders? Paranoid much? You mean the people who were smart enough to sign up on day one?
The "insiders" were more knowledgeable on the "first day," not inherently "smarter."Comment

In response to the tech questions, last year at Topeka I waited in line for about 1 1/2 hours. Pulled into the tech building and Keith did his thing with the safety inspection. I then pulled foreward to the table with Jenny and Michelle and got my decals and t-shirts. No track official ever looked at or under my car!!Comment
