I'm one of those guys who learns best from all three, the last one being the anchor. My World Lit teacher who I respected above all of my teachers said you never really know a book until you've read it at least three times. She said that more than three times. lol. That stuck too. I can still recite all the "to be helping verbs" courtesy of a four foot nazi terrorist grammar teacher who drilled that into our heads with intimidation and repitition. So can my stoner buddy from seventh grade... so there's definitely repetition helping to memorize. lol.

Technical stuff I have to be able to see taking it apart in my head, and can't do that from reading sometimes. I probably learned more from parts books than manuals, but that's about where my formal "learning" ended. I'm just now starting to kind of understand how little I know about what I've been doing.

What a fun read this has been.

All I'd like to add is that sometimes a combination in a car works WAY BETTER than it has ANY right to. I've seen it more than once. All the reading in the world, all of the proven combos... but some times a "thrown together" combination of parts goes way faster than popular thinking would suggest it should.
On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes a high dollar engine with lots of well planned "go fast" parts is a turd.
