With 5.13, simply get 2 tall tires with enough tread to get home and one with enough for, ohhh say 50 miles? Then you will save on fuel getting home... You aren't loading that thing to the max. Aren't you?
You can leave the inner tires on if you have no room for them or the threads are chewed..
OR...Simply find some 19.5's. 2-4 or 6... Not like you are limited... Truck tire shops probably be your best bet..
I put 4 19.5's on the back of my 2wd flatbed... Fit with no problem... Took em off cuz the 16's were cheaper new
I've been carrying an old Michelen road kit I got when I bought a set of tires years ago. I was going to garage sell it but since I've been on the road every weekend to PA I thought it might be wise to carry. It has the usual stuff, jumper cables, reflectors, electric air pump and a few other do dads. I also carry a small hydraulic jack and a 4 way tire wrench and tire plug kit. Oh yeah, a piece of pipe if I need leverage. I would suggest checking all the lug nuts...not to see if they're loose but too tight. Nothing worse then being on a dark road at night with a flat tire and can't loosen the lug nuts because some one used an impact wrench set to a 1000 ftlbs. One last thing, some sort of work light. HF has these neat LED ones that are cheap and put out a lot of light.
I didn't read the whole thread, I've been kind of busy lately...but I did get back from my trip, and have my next week sort of partly planned. My brother and his wife live in Tucson, and they're going to Burning Man, leaving this Sunday in the 58 chevy wagon. I got roped into staying at their house and watching my nephews....so I'll be in Tucson starting sometime Sunday, for almost a week.
Let me know what's up...I'll pm you my phone number
If your route takes you through Northcentral/Northeastern PA, I've got a truck, tow strap, and tools. Also a shop available with many more tools around I80-I81 intersection.
Hey you guys!... Nice to offer your shops and help... Whaddaya'all trying to do? Jinx Poor Tony?
He is driving a Chevy TRUCK, it aint likely to break down, just run outa gas...
Mine has been the most reliable POS I have ever owned! Always started, hauled a load, or yanked a trailer when asked... Abused it and on my 3rd engine... 2nd was just to get my 3rd ready...
I DOUBT he will have problems of the mechanical kind, but will guarantee he will have a thirsty truck!
