and no, this isnt directed at anybody.
the fact is I love any v8, well ok except pontiacs 301s. I love seeing nailheads , rockets, y-blocks ,FEs ,hemis and w headed chevies in street rods . and a hot Flattie just sounds bitchen with a set of smithys. and I still think a 500 inch pro stock sounds like sweet music...
Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?
In my younger years, I would argue that any engine can make lots of power so stick with the brand of engine your car came with. As I get older and the reality of budget hits me like a ton of bricks, I realize that I have to take whatever engine that will make the most power for x amount of dollars.
It really seems to come down to how fast do I want to go, what do I have access to, and what can I afford? While some of you have already done the automotive equivelent to ebony and ivory, it is revolutionary thinking to me. Don't know is I will ever go through with it though. Time will tell. I do have less bitterness to the whole idea than before though.
Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?
I dont have any really...I like stinkbugs and shackles and useless slapper bars and speed stickers in the windows and tires that stick out past the fenderwels and side pipes and psychodelic paint and chrome valve covers and all the stuff that everyone thinks is stupid now...ITs the stuff that turned me on to hot rods when I was a pup....I have always been the do what you like kind of guy...now dont get me wrong..I ALWAYS check out other people rides and put my spin on it...you know, if it were mine thats what I would do...but I will never toss my thoughts and ideas of what someones car should be down their throat....
Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?
I like old cars.
Really, nothing since the '70s holds much interest for me beyond being a daily transportation appliance. I don't really view it as a prejudice because I'm not expecting everyone else to think the same way about the subject as I do. If newer cars are your thing, more power to you...they just don't happen to be my thing.
Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?
I like it all.... so long as it's clean and you dig it...
Fanboy car guys... can be annoying... usually they ride Harleys around me, though a Corvette guy or three come to mind, along with Fans of a particular driver... man if that's all you care about you missed a ton of great racing...
Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?
I was a fan of "that particular guy", Keith.. :D...in a way I always will be....but it isn't the only discipline of motorsport that I like.
Yeah, the secularism of that particular form of racing is rather disappointing...as is that attitude in ANY form of motorsport.....but getting on topic:
My unspoken automotive prejudice is towad the wing/bodykit/clearcorner/megawheel offerings....
I see these kinds of cars, and I instantly wonder if the circus is in town(clown wagons).
But then again, I imagine the old folks back in te day thought similar things about the young cats in their "gow jobs", running on the Salt Flats and the streets of SoCal......and that's what makes me realize we're all in this together whether we like a certain style or not.
