that would be different but i would cry if you did that.no chevy deserves that ever, not even a cavalier

When people paint their STOCK calipers red. Even worse are when the drums are painted red. This is common on pimped out hondas.

Any oversized wheel. Why does anyone need a wheel bigger than 18 inches on a street car?

            fake rat rods,

am starting to hate AWD subaru's (sound like they're missing)...
and usually the people that drive them (they're worse than the ricers, 'cause SOME of them are actually fast...well, sorta),

Smoky diesels...(you know they can run clean AND make power!),

            Late model v-6 Mustangs...with fake "Cobraesque" rear fascia's, {gay)

guys in stock 5.0's that think 225hp 5.0's are faster than all the new stuff "'cause back in the day...it kicked ass!"...and can't be made to understand 3.6L v-6's are making 300+hp now,

anything thats donked, boxed, bubbled or otherwise F#CKED up beyond repair (ie, destroying all the mid 80's rwd platforms),

"bass boat" paint on anything not built and painted in the '70's...then it should have psychedelic colors, candies, multihues, and air-brush, too....especially on the hood and roof....and naked chicks airbrushed on the trunklid...yeah, got to have that. ;D

and racecars with no name....what's the deal?....thats part of the fun in racing...names like Miss Behaven, Little Hero, Old Red, Blue Bayou, Executioner, Silver Bullet, Widowmaker, Icekicker, God of War (Buddy's daddy was a minister, too!), Kick Booty, Thunderstruck, Evil, Titan, Zues, Godzilla (yeah, a reeeeeaaly big BBC), Hammer,....these were names on the cars I grew up around. 8)

"am starting to hate AWD subaru's (sound like they're missing)..." EXACTLY, any time i hear one go by my brain is all "miss miss miss miss miss" i want to run up to them hand them some plug wires or something JUST SO IT WILL STOP
That sound is from the flat four configuration and the unequal length exahust manifolds. One of the few 4's that doesn't sound like a sewing machine on caffine.

I like the sound, thank you very much. ;D

but then the question i have for you is why would you want a 4 banger? they all sound like their missing something......like another HALF OF A MOTOR
            Why? Why not?

Turbo's help a bunch on the street... Better gas mileage... Not to mention GM does not build a performance wagon with awd and good gas mileage... Neither does Ford and the Mopar product is FWD (Caliber SRT), no thank you. No wings or fart cans so the po po leaves me alone... Unlike when I had my Camaros...

Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?

After some thought I came up with a few.

Brand new cars in car shows. Yeah, it must have taken alot of effort to pull the window sticker off and give it a wash.

Wrong offset wheels whether it be on a 4x4 or a musclecar. I'm surprised nobody mentioned that.

              mudflaps on musclecars

exhaust stacks coming up through the bed on any truck. This is a new and disturbing trend in my area.

Airbrushed fake trim (although there is a 70 or so Nova that runs at LVD and has 56 Chevy style side trim airbrushed on. It looks cool, but would have been way better if they made actual trim fit the car)

Prostock style scoops on '80s street driven cars. These are usually 305 powered cars. Also I find those Stormin Norman hoods on Fox body Stangs a turn off.

Guys who have a nice car and can't take two seconds to talk to you about it at a show. You're at a show, I didn't walk into your garage and start bugging you about it! Everything is a big secret. Or the guy who tells you all about the car in terms of how much money he spent on it. I spent all day at a show in CT once and wasn't near my car the whole time because one of those guys parked next to me.

big arse air cleaners out the hood, when a normal air cleaner would fit nicely under the hood, and the i'm sitting still but my car is doing a wheelie look!!

                    For starters:
                    -white lettered tires on anything
                    -painted bumpers (originally chrome)
                    -T-handles on shifters
                    -rusty tailpipes
                    -leaks- any kind, oil,coolant,exhaust
-overkill stereos - all electronic gadgetry (unless it makes the car go faster)
-anything hanging from the rear view mirror

My only predjudice is it HAS to be Mopar bodied and Mopar powered. Wait! That's not predjudice that is my way of life! ;D
I am getting more observant of other brands like chevy and ford, I just don't want to own one. 10 years ago I would not even look at anything at local shows other than a Mopar, I will glance under an offbrand hood now from time to time ;)

Re: What are some unspoken auto prejudices you have?

                        1. I can't stand donk/bubble/box trends. If it has more ground clearance than a stock 2wd 1/2 ton, you screwed up.

                        2. "Fanboy" drivers who think if you don't have (x) vehicle, that you suck and should be off the road. Porsche, Vette, Camaro/Mustang, Honda...I get a lot of this retarded crap. My friend with the Corvette is the worst, I swear...

                        3. Nitrous, personally at all for me, but especially on the street. Why?

                        4. "Thumper" stereo systems. I should hear it, not feel it on the damn Richter scale every time you blast some irritating-ass early '90s rap, or better yet, Spanish-beat stuff..

                        5. Lambo doors on Asian imports/domestics. If it ain't factory, it doesn't need 'em. I hope you hit your head. HARD.

And about people not being friendly at car shows...totally agree. It's amazing how people clam up about anything on their car, as if you didn't see the same part in Summit last night. Yeesh, get over it. I'm looking at your machine, not trying to steal it, or steal your great idea for a custom accelerator rod I could duplicate for $.40.
                        Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

There's a lot of stupid stuff done to cars but most of it doesn't bother me. Its not my car so...
But, two things that get under my skin for some strange reason are:

Back halved street cars. This isn't really an issue anymore but back when it was all the rage it drove me nuts. One, I thought it looked stupid. Two, usually it had no purpose other than pure looks and Three, why destroy a classic car for a fad? When I sold my SS Chevelle back in the 90's I had two guys that wanted it. One said he'd been looking for a clean '67 SS to back half. I sold it to the other guy for less money.

The other has already been mentioned but its the chevy motor in everything under the sun. I don't care if its a 350 or an LS1, I'm sick of seeing 'em. Don't get me wrong, I like chevies. My Buick is my first non-chevy but come on. It was bad enough when they were being plugged into all the BOP cars but now its Fords and Mopars too! I think its time to fight back. Lets see that 429 in that Chevelle SS or that Toyota V8 in that minty '69 Camaro! Yeah, I just have to win the lottery and I'll have fleets of them and take 'em to all the races and shows. It'll be great! And when I'm asked why I'll throw their stock answer back at 'em....."I wanted to go fast" Ha ha ha ha...ha ha ha... HA HA HA HA Ha Ha hahahahaha.............

the fact is I love any v8, well ok except pontiacs 301s. I love seeing nailheads , rockets, y-blocks ,FEs ,hemis and w headed chevies in street rods . and a hot Flattie just sounds bitchen with a set of smithys. and I still think a 500 inch pro stock sounds like sweet music...
