I got my grease at OReilly. Something like $2.50 for a tube.
yep, they sell little ketchup packets too up at the counter for a buck or so. I asked for it's daddy and the kid goes "no" and I said "What, no dielectric grease?" and the old man behind the counters ears perked up. He says "in the back" points at the row. Kid looked confused, but hey, he was trying.

Dad still tells stories of diesel / kerosene in spray bottles working magic for old cars down on the coast. Extremely high humidity , incredibly fast corrosion, something between the points and condenser losing ground and plug terminals crudding up. I'd bet this stuff would really help even with newish cars now.

I would be inclinde to think it has a carbon track in the boot down the side of the plug, if you pull the plug look for a Spider web size black line down the side of it. The dielectric grease has now sealed it and made the path to ground harder to follow. Many a coil pack has been changed when a boot and a plug will fix it. Also I suggest staying with a ribbed plug to give the boot something to seal up too.

The misfire monitor may have never been set from the factory or if someone does a hard reset, it will clear the monitor and thats reset by acceling past 65 and coasting down to 10 MPH without hitting the brakes 3 or 4 times in a row. The other thing not many non Ford guys cant use but is great is Mode 6 it will show misfires also.

Use to have Cop Cars with bad coil packs at WOT in a chase mis so hard on a coil pack right before the shift it killed the ECM and had to restart the car, when it kills it it cant record the cylinder, we just moved the new coil pack till it quit.

So now at 91000+ miles it started it's little missing thing again. I pulled the coil packs and the grease was all dried looking again. I regreased them and all is well with the world.
