I'm not that great at dead hangs. For Air Force ROTC we only count perfect form dead hangs- legs totally immobile, no excessive swinging, and travel is arms locked out at the bottom and up till your chin is clearly above the bar. My normal number for that is right around 12. For "regular" pull ups I can knock out 18-25 depending on the day.

I really don't have a method to my training. I pretty much do it all- I will be signing up for two marathons next year- the Bay Shore in Traverse City, MI in May and the Air Force Marathon down in Ohio in September. I'll try and fit in a tough mudder sometime between the two. I don't actively practice martial arts much, but weekly BJJ-style grappling and the occasional sparring match keeps me dialed in that respect.

For me running is kind of funny. I'm not really that fast. I'm decent for someone who has never run track or cross country, but I really am not that good. Two years ago I was able to go out and run about 5 miles at a stretch. Now I can pretty confidently say I could go rack out 10-15 without training. Back then I could only run 6:40 ish miles at the fastest, and my 1.5 mile was right around 11. However, because I am the Physical Fitness Officer, all the new cadets think I am some beast of a runner.

Randall, I'd love to get some time in at altitude. Most serious runner that I know like to train at 5000 and above so that when they have better low altitude capabilities.

If you dont have a solid method of training for weights, you'll reach a stopping point early on, but it takes so much time and dedication, I do now but couldn't manage the time when I was fighting. I highly recommend this

Will up your bench without you even trying hard. 6 work sets a week basicly.

I think I starting to reach a limit of what I can do with out getting bigger. I eat 4 chicken breast and two baked potatoes plus regular food everyday, multivitamin. I notice I'm getting hurt alot more now. I cant eat protien shakes other than Soy.

You cutting weight Joe? I allow alot more time between sets now. I cant do dead hangs or standing rows, but I do pullups, bent rows, and weighted inverted rows and fell the lats real good. It sucks but we dont have a way to do lat pull downs at my boxing gym. My weekend gym does however.

Despite popular belief it is possible to burn fat and build muscle at the same time. That is what I am doing, lots of weight, lots of reps no rest...it keeps the heart rate up and spikes your metabolism like crazy.. And I am not shooting for a body building body, I am working for all around fitness, strength and endurance....body builders look great but all that muscle to me is useless if all you can do is lift things up and put them down....

Had some health issues pop up recently. Just got back from the doc, unofficial diagnosis is anemia but waiting on all kinds of blood tests to come back before anything official is decided. Still keeping the weight down but until I get this crap figured out I'm taking it easy, so no gym for a bit. Yee-friggin-haw.

Sorry to hear that Tedly. I hope the best for you.

I'm struggling with the pulled back muscle, should've been better by now. My cardio has went downhill so bad that paintball is helping me get it back up. I need to refocus.

              Keep us updated Tedly.

Going to try out George St. Pierre's workout videos. They are called "Rushfit". A friend had good results, takes about 45 minutes a day.

Rushfit is good for dropping weight and upping cardio. Also builds muscle. We did similar things in my mma training. Also its a lot more fun than a treadmill.

back muscle bothered me zero last night, did not do lower back or legs thou. Still progress.

Training by myself isn't helping. GF spotted me when I needed it last night.

Hittiing it hard still. Back is feeling good. Workout partner keeps missing so its hard to do certain things. Ed coan squat and bench program right now. Then ill do 5/3/1 for some recovery. Have done 5x5 before and its solid.

Joe, I am not a bodybuilder by no means, but cant stand having no upper chest. Its damn near concave. I already do flat bb bench, bb ohp, db ohp. Simple as doing incline press with db or bb? Which you recommend? upping reps to 10ish? I hate incline with a barbell btw due to shoulder injury.
