Here's my list for the Tour;

Friday and Saturday, Econo Lodge Wet-n-wild,Arlington
Sunday... Comfort Suites, Crossroads, Texarkana
Monday...Holiday Inn Express Airport, Bankhead, Little Rock
Tuesday...Sleep Inn, Old Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis
Wednesday...Quality Inn, Cahaba Valley Pkwy,Pelham
Thursday...Best Western, Andrews Rd, Murphy
Friday...Comfort Suites,Gateway Lane,Concord Mills

To locals(and people that know the area):
What areas of Memphis do I want to avoid? (as far as choosing a hotel is concerned)

If all areas are bad, which is the 'least bad'

The south and central sides of Memphis can be pretty sketchy. We had a car broken into around Christmas one year at a nice hotel on Poplar. They broke the window and popped the trunk to get Christmas presents, etc. The east suburbs seem to be pretty safe. Maybe someone else will weigh in.

The area around Wolfchase Mall ( Germantown Parkway) & Germantown are not bad areas. We are staying at the intersection of US 78 and Highway 302 (Goodman Road) in Olive Branch, MS. If not attending the drivers meeting, this is also a convienient location to join up with the tour wednesday morning when it leaves for Birmingham. Our route for the day will either be Highway 72 to Corinth, MS or Highway 78 through Tupelo. People who do the Power Tour that live in the area east of Memphis recomended Olive Branch.

Millington is also a good area, if there are any rooms left. Sycamore View & I-40 is where we used to stay when we went to the races at Memphis Motorsports Park but we were told to avoid that area by locals.

Yeah, that area of Germantown is nice and Olive Branch is also nice. I've stayed there and it is nice. I drive from Georgia to Oklahoma often and am familiar with Tupelo and Olive Branch, as well as Corinth. Got friends there, so that would be awesome!
