Wheel Question

So bought the Centerlines last weekend, even managed to talk the guy down 200 bucks Will need to install longer wheel studs and replace the slicks with street tires but it should work good In the process of getting the car ready for summer now so should have the new shoes on in a couple weeks

run the screws with some epoxy or thread loc in then grind off the back side so it is flush with the rim...install tires...done.

shouldnt need longer studs, just get the right lug nuts


also, i say just mount 'em and go

yeah the fronts don't even come thru the bolt holes on the wheels so new studs there for sure, the rears only barely poke thru so gonna do them too

Not arguing either... Looks paradoxical...but it is merely a "proper nut" sorta thing... Many rims are like that.. Had some on my 4X4 like that...

Okay, that's kinda cool. Never seen any like that before. Just wondering how safe that would be if the lug bolt only comes thru half the width of the bolt hole? Don't know, but worth finding out, thanks

Lug nuts have a sleeve built in them to make the hole full.. And hold the rim centered..
Once you see it, you will understand. Outside of the lugnuts is a wee bit smaller than the hole..

Found them in the Summit catalog, gonna order them along with some center caps. Think I have a buyer for the slicks already

So, got the lug nuts for the wheels and decided to bolt them on just to see how it will look, slicks and all. Jacked up the car, put on the wheel and hand tighten the lug nuts. Grab a wrench to tighten them up and ... uh, oh, that doesn't feel right. Yup, stripped the &^$%$&* bolt. Okay, not that big a deal, back off the lug nuts pull off the wheel and start to remove the drum. Being a bit stubborn but coming slowly and surely. Just needs a bit off a love tap the the persuader and it will fall right off, no problem. tap tap tap SH*T! broke the damn brake drum! So, a 3.5 hour round trip drive later I have a new brake drum to replace the old one. Go out into my parts shed to look for some other stuff and there sitting on a shelf are ... two Vega brake drums I think I've caused enough damage for one day. Time to sit down and drink some beer. Sometimes it's just better to walk away for a while
