Man - I wish I was in the market for wheels - but I'm not in the market for anything non essential right now - two mortgages sucks!

Those mini lights will look drop dead gorgeous on your car - great choice.

I like the block off plate - did you elaborate elsewhere in your thread about your ipod system in the car?
There's always something new to learn.

I did two mortgages for a while, which turned into a rental for a time, UGH!
We will see if my existing wheels sell, I do need to order the 200 treadwear tires ASAP. More importantly I need to get my ass into my "still cold" un-heated garage and get moving on the engine swap!!

I think I elaborated on my Ipod setup, I think I made a diagram? let me look back.

Looks like the Pro Comp Pro is the most affordable 2 1/16 electric oil gauge. Anybody using this?

Gauges are going where the radio would normally go, as I don't use a radio in here, Ipod connection only, I haven't had this in the car yet.
I used a scrap piece of Carbon Fiber and trimmed it to fit, basically made a radio-delete plate. Should be a nice background for the gauges.

I know I made a diagram on how my Ipod is wired in, now it's driving me crazy!

Short description is that an amp is mounted behind the rear seat and wired to the battery and a switched 12V. In my case the Battery is in the trunk. The amp drives 4 speakers, two in the front, and two out back.

I then used adapters to connect the two amplifier RC inputs for Right and Left to a headphone jack, using a Y-adapter like this.

I have an extension that runs from behind the seat, under the carpet up to the center console where I plug the Ipod in. It couldn't be more simple. NO head unit, and the volume is controled from the Ipod. And when not in use, it just sits in the console out of sight.
Only down-side is the Ipod/Iphone battery is used when playing, but I get a few hours of play time from a single charge.

There are a bunch of nice new offerings in the 200 category. I'll be listening for your pick.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Falken Azenis RT-615K. The front tire will need to go up one size in the front, 205 to a 215, so I need to check if I can make that work with the limited clearance to the trunion. (Damn Ramblers!).
Actually it's the same limitation you would have on a car with mcpherson struts.

Sorry, I'm just a guy looking for direction.

Is your choice based on $$ or performance?

                    A bit of both.
This blog item had some good information.

They have a distinctive tread pattern, so I did some poking around and found that several fast Pro-Touring cars are also using them, including the RideTech 33 and others.
That said, IF they were $300 a pop, I would probably go to something less expensive, however they are very affordable too! When does this EVER happen?

I just committed. (or should be committed?)
I JUST finished signing up for the 2013 Optima Faceoff at road America!
The 401 short block is sitting on a stand, and I have boxes of parts everywhere, the next two months will be very busy!

You and I apparently work the same way - without a deadline - we are more prone to paralysis - it was a no brainer for me to sign up for drag week again this year with the goal being the falcon making the trip this year - instead of waving the white flag as I did last year.

Your stereo set up is pure genius - no head unit - no fubared dash - elegant in it's simplicity. I think I will copy this idea for the '54.
I cut out the already cut up dash of the falcon to mount a "single DIN" size radio - bent a simple box out of sheet metal and welded it in place - it nearly looks like it was meant to be there. Your solution is a lot less work!

Here is some more carbon fiber work installed on the car. A nice place to set tools when working on the engine

Very nice work Mike; with any luck that will pay dividends in the cooling and looks departments.

Last evening I just ordered a pile of stuff from Summit and Jegs, one part on back order, one part shipped from the manufacturer, and a pile of cash spent.
I hope the parts all get here quickly :/

I hate this part of the hobby, but I love having packages waiting for me at home!

I suppose I should share some pictures of the engine with its shiny aluminum heads, and roller rockers sitting atop them
