Rusty has a pretty illustrious past. Built during the 59 days leading up to the 2005 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, we thrashed, never slept, and somehow got this beast on the road in time to leave Allen Texas for the 934 mile road trip to Milwaukee. The car had 2 miles of driving on it before we left, and I hadn't slept in 30+ hours at the time of departure. I drove the entire 934 miles and only fell asleep once, while sitting in stopped traffic, with the car in park, in the middle of Chicago. On Power Tour, the car was a huge hit. Mostly due to the dead on and 100% legit patina, the upside down front bumper, and laid out Ridetech suspension stance. Me and 4 buddies made the trek in the car, and had a blast the entire time.
Interest from Hot Rod Magazine got the car featured in the October 2005 Hot Rod, with the feature being written by Rob Kinnan and shot by Wes Allison. This was the start of my friendship with Freiburger, Turk, Kinnan, and Wes. It was all downhill from there.
Rusty is literally the reason that I am here today. The car's feature led to taking it on the first Drag Week, which led to announcing for Hot Rod on Power Tour, which led to a job in California, Rusty in the SEMA show, and ultimately CarJunkieTV with Freiburger. This car rules all and sits in my garage right now, looking just like the photos. We're planning some cool little changes to the car this year. You are going to love them.
