I did a test shoot today... this is on poster paper so its a little
wrinkly and the camera doesnt show it the way it really is...
but this is Inferno Red Pearl Coat... I added mirco metallic to the
top coat but I'm gonna cut the metallic down about 10%-15%..
the color in person is more like a maroon color... the pic
makes it look more orange than maroonish... the wife
really likes the color... thats most of the battle... LOL

"The wife" has ALWAYS wanted a candy-apple red car, but since this USED to be her daily driver, she's thrilled HER truck will be that shade! She does share her toys with her husband.....

The truck WAS originally hers... but that went out the window when
I started cutting on it..... LOL
Damn.... just picked up my sealer for the paint job... $250 for the sealer
and stuff to shoot that... sure am glad I dont have to buy any other painting
materials for this job... its been a while since I had to buy painting materials...
man has it gone up... I think I would have about $1100 into all the materials
to spray this thing.. at least its all PPG and good quality product.. now I sure
hope I dont screw it up.... LOL
I started priming the glass hood today... its a AAR hood with a 4" cowl
on it... its actually pretty damn nice... it was a pin on but I made some
changes so now its gonna be a bolt on and a pin on... I glassed in a couple
of alum brackets so I can slide it forward and lift it off the hinges.. or just
use the hinges and a prop rod... anyways with the first coat of primer and
a quick block sand it turned out nice... I think 1 more coat should do it... then
its time to set up my spray booth... got to blow the shop out... a FEW times
to get all the dust out before I set up the booth... next week I SHOULD have
color on it.... and start the re-assembly ..... getting closer .. and the weather
is starting to break

do you have any pictures of the hood hinge setup? I've thought about making my glass hood easier to remove than it is with the factory hinges and stock type bolts.

This is what I did... I milled a piece of alum angle for the slots then glasses them on...
I still need to grind it smooth... but to have it level with the cowl and fenders I
had to make a spacer for each side... I'm gonna screw those to the hinges... they
are about 3/8 thick... some how I screwed up on the height of the parts on the hood...
you know what they say... measure twice and cut once... well I measured about 6 times
and still cut it short... I figured I'd put up a pic of where
the car stands at this time... I was hoping to do the final
guide coat on it today but I just ran out of 400 paper...
I'll get more in the morning
