I was at the swap meet in Canby - cold, and very little stuff.... hopefully the Corvette swap in Puyallup will be better (Feb 9,10)
Wish I had known you were going! I was there also! Got there at 8:00 a.m. and done going through twice in 45 min.! Saw one item that was a great buy. A Milwaukie portaband saw for $100 like new! Told my buddy he should buy it, but by the time he was deciding it was gone!
I'm planning on going to one of the Puyallup swap meets, but don't know whether the early bird on Feb. 16th-17th or the almost spring on Mar. 16th-17th. I'd guess the Feb. one, just because it's a month earlier, and they might be the same vendors both meets. Got a suggestion on which is better?

I like the Corvette one, followed closely by the 4x4 one.... the others I may or may not make it to - until the one in Monroe in May. Also, the early bird one is on Valentine's day weekend - I'm not sure I want to use up any built-up good feelings with my wife - especially since Portland is coming soon on its heels.

I saw that bandsaw, but thought "I can cut with a horizontal, or vertical bandsaw, a plasma, a die grinder, or any of a half dozen side grinders... do I really need one more?"

The thing that kept tempting me was the air-gap vortec intake... but I had to remind myself that I really didn't want to put another hood scoop on my car.

I was there at 7:30, was gone by 8:15.... I really liked that Blazer project too

I use the heck out of my Milwaukie portaband, but I don't have a plasma torch, or a vertical bandsaw. I cut tons of tubing and pipe with mine, and occasionally use the sawzall, but not as much. If I had a vertical bandsaw or a plasma torch I'd probably use mine less. Sure works great on exhaust pipe!
Portland swap meet is always a never miss, even if I'm not building a project!

IIRC Car Craft had an article about converting a wood vertical bandsaw to metal capabilities - about a month after that article, I found a bandsaw that someone had already converted.... I'd highly recommend the wood converted to metal bandsaw - they're cheap (relatively speaking), and they use thinner blades... it is the most used metal cutter in my shop by a factor of 2 (at least).

I still can't get behind the purchase of a falcon with proceeds from a Camaro.... maybe rebuild your 'burb into a period-correct car hauler?

I'm still on the fence with the Falcon. I guess part of it is the price is so cheap that building it would not be expensive. But then I've only owned one Ford, my '69 Ford pickup. I'm still looking for the elusive and expenssive 30's coupe to build! But I've been looking for that for years without success.

Since you already have a gasser - you could build the falcon in a different direction - with M2 front end etc...

I'm still looking for a good old wood band saw to convert to metal speeds.... that will wait until things are set up in the new shop - the upstairs there will be part wood shop, now I sort of regret giving away my old radial arm saw.
There's always something new to learn.

The little backyard built Austin won "Best in Class" at the Portland Roadster Show today! It was put in the Nostalgia Class, which is the largest class in the show, with much competition, but somehow it got the win! Pretty tickled to win!

Thanks Bob, appreciate that! I'm still a bit shocked that it did so well against the competition!

If you weren't so limited for space.... This "lightning Rod" shifter could be a lot of fun in a light weight hard shifting car like yours!

Very cool shifter, but you're right, I don't have room for it.

                                I can vouch for that!
It's about the size of the razor rigs... Well... Almost! Lol
