correction, a jackwagon in a Corvette

my wife has made it clear that there will be no end to the razzing if I buy a Corvette (she's totally behind the idea, God I love that woman) and my response has always been.... I get razzed no matter what, but the difference will be I'll be in a Corvette

I drove a brand new C5 back in '98, top down, triple black and I can say you don't really notice being razzed about it if they are razzing you. License removal machine. There's a reason why I don't own one and it has to do with discipline. You can be cruising effortlessly at 150 before you know it and the car frankly doesn't care... when I bought the 2k Lightning, I wanted a 'vette, but I quoted a third seat as a requirement. Now I just say "I know better" and let it go.
Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

I think my wife now understands that putting me in a 400 hp DD is not a good idea. Who knows, another H3 may come to roost at Chez SBG (this time a 5.3 version). I'm more of the outdoor type rather than the gold chain type... though I do look good in gold chains

Why not both? Hit the gym some more and get your own action figure!

I must say I'm a bit confused, you're building an over the top no holes barred drop top twin turbo efi 4 wheel disc brake monster for your lovely bride..... but you won't build something for yourself to drive every day?

They are repoping lots of vintage sheetmetal these days.... for the price of a used few years old 'vette you could build something infinitely more cool.
There's always something new to learn.

Would violate my rule about working on DDs...

Shame on you Bob for thinking such a terrible thing (funny, though, the thought did cross my mind)

I'm planning on putting a key in the car (like the Bugatti Veyron has) which, when removed, will limit the car to 60 mph and 100 hp. Might even have to leave it out when you're driving it

When I left my Skylark outside a co-worker's house in Vegas for two or so weeks and flew to AL for a Firebird, I set the rev limiter at 2,000 rpm. Works like a charm for regular driving though it does require short shifting right at 2,000rpm, but in the event I had broken or forgot my laptop I would still be able to drive at roughly 65-70mph. Figured if the car got stolen or it needed to be moved from where it was parked (I left the keys with the co-worker's wife), or the co-worker's 23 year old son decided he'd want to drive it, that the engine would likely survive okay =P I'm pretty sure there are provisions in the MegaSquirt such that I could of hooked up a toggle or key switch to set the rev limiter, but the laptop worked for my purposes.

It's actually pretty hilarious going from a stop to 1/2+ throttle in first and hitting a 2,000rpm rev limiter. Don't really know how good it is for the engine, but it made me laugh and do it a couple more times. It's like hitting a freaking wall at an instant 20mph The fuel cut sounds nothing like a spark cut, it's all RAWR then nothing

As long as there is a handle we should be in business.

Update..... still no car. This from the dealership, they 1320gforce sent the differential a week ago.... or they got the seal 10 days ago....

I suppose the bright side is if it's still in the shop I can't break it.

So it's been a month since it broke (actually 5 weeks), in the shop 4 weeks, and they still haven't diagnosed the transmission... any thoughts on whether I'll see my car before the holiday (May 28 )?

I hate this appliance rental car.... yeah, it's a decent car (Malibu)... but it's an appliance - and other than it's amazing ability to do burnouts in any direction you point the wheel, it's still not a GTO.

                              *whine off*

so I took my other GTO differential to the dealership so they could rob parts off it that 1320 forgot to send with the rebuilt unit.

                                seriously

everyone has an extra 2005-06 rear diff from a GTO on their shelf, right?
