They would drop you at the drop of a hat if they needed to, so i say take it and if/when you leave so be it.

Be happy that you are employed, but definitely interview or apply for the new job. Worst case, you don't get it and you have a safe job now. Best case, you get it and are outta there!www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

Hey if your aunt didn't ask you, then not your problem. They should be asking you anyways.Previously HoosierL98GTAComment

Go for it. No reason to feel bad about anything, life happens, things change, people move on. The current job is making you miserable and affecting your health, that's more than enough reason to get the hell out of dodge if you have another opportunity.I'm probably wrongComment

There's nothing more mentally draining than having a job you hate. My last job I hated every day and I did it for six years. The job I have now I don't mind getting up every morning, I'm much happier! Good luck!!Just groovin' to my own tune.Comment

Nope!Originally posted by catchmeblue70 View PostThe only thing is my aunt, who works in that office, has mentioned that as far as she knows I plan on staying in BG when Bryan graduates. While I'd love to, and I might have to stay a little while, I know the chances are slim to none. Should I feel bad about taking the position, we're it offered, and then leaving so soon?
You've got to do what you've got to do to stay happy and keep your sanity. Do NOT stay at a job because of fear of what will happen to those left behind.
I've stayed in a job I hated because I felt guilty about leaving. The stress was effecting my health. When I finally told my boss how I felt and that I wanted to go elsewhere, he told me what I just told you "you've got to do what you've got to do".
P.S.: THE preferred way to look for a new job is while you still have one.Comment

I've decided I'm going to apply for it. In a twist of events I ended up talking to my old boss (who would be my new one were I to get it) after class yesterday for a good 2 hours and he said I could totally do the job. There's a separate committee of people in the department that go through all of the applications, conduct the interviews and then take their pick to him, so it's making it through them that could be a little tougher. I don't expect them to hand me the job just because I've worked there before, but they know I have the experience and I get along with everyone, which, to them, is a huge part of it.Who needs sugar and spice and everything nice? Go for it. I've gone on interviews just for the heck of it to see what is out there, even if I had no intent on taking the job. Nothing is worse then working at something you hate. It's unhealthy physically and fiquratively. I worked at my last job for 18 years. There were some pluses not directly related that kept me plus I waited for the right job. I'm very happy at my current job of 3 years.TomOverdrive is overrated

MY APPLICATION IS IN!!! It's been hell trying to figure out how to do it without my current boss finding out (I don't want to stir crap up and make things even worse), but it's in, so now I wait.Who needs sugar and spice and everything nice?
