Sergeant Whoopass- 2006 Ford P71 Police Interceptor

I just picked this 2006 Ford P.I. P71 with 152k to use as an autocrooser, bracket drag racer, possible ice racer this winter, 2012 Drag Week entry and most of all for something fun to drive on a day to day basis that gets Ok MPG, rides and handles good, and is roomy enough to road trip in with four men aboard.

I bought it from a co-worker, after waiting out the time period for the price to drop. It was a Wyoming Sheriff's Dept.'s Detective's car. It super clean underneath and top to bottom. Paint isn't bad, just the typical dings and scraps. It's black with Medium light Stone color cloth interior and came with the optional package that included carpet, F&R floor mats, rear door locks and handles, 8-way power drivers seat, cruise control, AM/FM/CASS, engine block heater kit, 3.27 ratio diff. with Trac-Lok, locking gas cap, power heated side mirrors and cloth buckets front seats.

So far, in owning for two and half days I've serviced all the fluids, added a K&N air, installed new spark plugs and fuel filter, cleaned the MASS air sensor and throttle body, fixed a bunch of loose interior items and installed new brake pads on all four corners.

The kid I bought it from took great care of it, as you can see. He just put four brand new GoodYear Police spec. tires on it a month ago-WIN!

Looks pretty clean ... what was the purchase price if you don't me asking?

If you are looking for extra wheels to mount alternate tires on for auto-x usage or whatever, any of the 05-up Mustang wheels are the proper bolt pattern and offset. Gives you a pretty good selection of OEM and aftermarket stuff at a reasonable price.

    cheers

And the best part, I already ran an SCCA Autocross with it today, running in G Stock, which had four cars in class, and I took second. Myself as well as a few guys that rode along on a couple of runs, were all shocked at how well this thing handles stops, and GOES. Tomorrow is day two of our regions 2 day event that we have every year, so I hope to take first with a little more seat time (then just driving it to work one day, and to the AutoX event today, only been 117ml behind the wheel since this Thursday when I got it.)

3500 was the price to pay for cop car glory Ed.

Yeah, I already had the 07 17" gray centered bullitts I have for the Pace car on it, it lost it's badass-ness with them so ithe steelies are going to stay for now till I can maybe get a set of black centered 18" Bullitts for it.

MSD Blaster coil packs and Flowmaster Hush Power mufflers are on the order list with the next paycheck, I need to make it run faster before it looks faster LOL

I bought the Raybestos factory spec police car brake pads for it. This most have been what Elwood Blues was taking about when he said it had "cop brakes".

The rear disc brakes are something I'm looking at to install on the rear of the Pace car, they're much bigger in everyway than 95 GT Mustang parts, and should bolt to the 8.8 Mustang axle without issue.

Great choice Jeremy! Starting with a PI surely saved you a lot of work since it has a bunch of the good stuff already.

one of the best all around cars there is - period.

If this is your do - all - and daily driver - what is the next plan for pace car?

Remy those wheels are sooooo bitchin' but this is what I had in mind. they go for cheap, which will save me the cash for good rubber to wrap them in. Speed parts first though.

A nice little belt spun hair dryer under the hood may be an option before new wheels and tires, as well.

I knew you would like it John. You know first hand how tuff these things are. I've had more fun with this car in two and half days and 117miles, than any before it. It makes me giggle like a school girl everytime I take a corner, whooo it down from speed, or just plan hold it WOT.

Plan for the Pace car is to grow some hair under the hood this winter- Option A, all alloy 331ci 5.0 based mill Option B-Coyote crate engine. I need to get a budget nailed down on V8 power because there is still alot of evolving the chassis needs so......
