Really, either 'glass or steel...one good chunk of that huge disconnect-able body hitting you in the face if it comes apart, or having your arms out catching bits and pieces, would do it. The road wouldn't have to kill you, the body would do it first.

I was the idiot kid who once went 75+ down the winding Angeles Forest Highway north of L.A. in a go-kart, in case you think I'm a wuss...but it was safer than that Cadillac.

Anyhow, thanks for the story. Like I say around the shop, every single stupid safety rule that we have to follow is because somebody once got hurt doing the thing that we no longer allow.

Like in the 60's and partly into the early 70's, Converted stock cars at the 1/4 mile track, and derby cars were built with driveline piping.. One guy who had a fleet of cars in the bump to pass had a yard full of drivelineless cars.. I'd see yokes at places where there should not be..
