...My dad also ran a 57 Sedan delivery in G/SA....ran a PG if I remember right....no class records...but lots of wins out west....Originally posted by Grumpy View PostI don't recognize the car but I ran in the same class and held the records for a while. That was probably the late 60's because that's when NHRA let the Sedan Deliverys run the 4 speed Hydros which never came in anything smaller then a half ton truck but with enough whinning and kissing they were allowed, that gave them the advantage until Marv Ripes (A1 Automatic) built the Equalizer Converter which leveled the playing field, here below are pictures of my old ride.

They didn't allow the 4 speed Hydros till the late 60's so that makes sense. If your Dad was in G/SA he must have had a 245 or 275 hp. 283 because I think I was in N/SA with my 220 hp? I had some good wins and the records were cool but I would have traded them for more wins, can you say driver error!Originally posted by Chassisman View Post...My dad also ran a 57 Sedan delivery in G/SA....ran a PG if I remember right....no class records...but lots of wins out west....sigpic

275/283 built by Vic Hubbard .... Yes...was 62-65 he ran the delivery...then got a 64 Buick Skylark with a 300 aluminum heads and 4 speed. Also ran the 57 in G/S with a 4 speed....he traded back and forth depending on PG broke or working...lolOriginally posted by Grumpy View PostThey didn't allow the 4 speed Hydros till the late 60's so that makes sense. Also towed the 57 SD with a matching 57 Bel Air 4 door sedan....he made the most with no $$$....came from a very poor family.I have a pic of him on a mountain of triFive chevys he bought in the early 60's....most were rolled over and the 4 speeds cut out....when I was a kid in the 70's my grandparents barn was packed with TriFive parts...my dad sent it all to the scrap guy.....sad...we are talking a 45x75 barn stuffed full...Last edited by Chassisman; March 15, 2013, 03:14 PM.The Beatings will continue until MORALE IMPROVES !!!!Comment
