Love Love what you got going. Gorgeous truck. Its a great project to start with for sure. Hacking it up though seems so tuff as that is one of those gorgeous lined trucks that will never be made again. Just the sound on the vid clip of the door shutting makes me tingle with joy. Little weird I know but go shut a door on a new one and youll get it. I suggest for a low buck easy build a straight six with a single turbo boosting 5-8 psi somewhere in the 400 maybe more range on pump gas. O yeah thatd be a screaming truck. Deep dished 19 in the read and some 18 on the front. 9 inch rear and a tremec backing it all to the ground. a wood floor c notch for stance not big but some and a sweet sweet sound system with tweed interior and a simple but elegant paint job. OOOO man can you tell Ive built one of these in my head before. Just some ideas for fun. Definitely dont get discouraged about time. I have 2500 tied up in motor alone on my car that has taken over two years between machining to me assembling and gathering parts. Im on board keep the posts and pics comings

A guy I know here has a 2.3 v6 out of a fox body for sale for a 200 or less that you could get and its running not sure if that is what your looking for but they make a turbo kit for this which would boost it to a good gas mileage runner. maybe another idea.

Vortec heads (with cut stems), comp thumpr cam, on a stock bottom end = 400 hp .... and at $400 you're saving money over new heads for $600 (at least) and aluminum heads start at $800 - and the motor honestly doesn't care. I love Vortec heads - that above combo is what I'm running on my Corvette

avoid project creep, but do get the stems cut down so you can run a stout cam

Charles - If you have a set of cam specs call Delta Cams in Tacoma. They'll treat you right and are cheap. I've run a couple of them in the Chevy sixes and they've held up well, including the solid lifter cam. Might be more in your price range.

so you're building a frame from scratch and running air ride on all four corners?

that sounds nearly sexual - very well done - how much of the windshield frame do you think you'll have to remove?

sounds like a drunk trap - tripping over the frame rails getting in should be interesting! :D
