You can do this yourself, including bending the tubing.

Make some patterns, leaving room for upholstery and proper safety padding.

    You got the "skillzz"
    I'm still learning

          4k? W.T.F?!

You can buy a damn nice bender and the steel for that... Why would seamed versus DOM matter? Is this thing gonna go 400 mph with it's hair on fire? I'm just curious .. DOM is prettier but I can't see the requirement.

You're gonna wind up with a racecar. Just thinkin out loud - that much cage in a small car and you're a pretty big dude. I hope you don't build it out of being enjoyable to cruise.

There are options for bending, even if you don't want to go out and buy a bender to do it yourself. I found a local company that will bend up whatever I need and prices for bending are reasonable, especially if I have it all done at one time. They also have various tubing I can buy cheaper, or sometimes I supply my own tube.
I use a 1/2" EMT bender and EMT tubing to mock up the whole system, and then take all the pieces to the bender guys and have them just bend up tube with a little extra length on each end for trimming. I make sure the bends are exactly what I want, and use the outside edge of the 1/2 as my reference point for the larger tubing. 1/2" EMT is cheap, and the bender is too, so it doesn't cost much to mock it all up, and I use duct tape to hold it all together as I mock up. Once it looks good I just remove the duct tape and off to the bender guys to fab it.

because seamed is 1/2 as strong as DOM .... 50k psi vs. 80k psi. DOM is also stiffer, which, for roll cages, is exactly what you want - you don't want your cage to yield than bounce back. For a motorcycle frame, welded seam is fine, but for safety and racing... DOM

Okay... I like the idea of plan for the worst and hope for the best... You could probably improve this with some side beams or perpindicular loops.

Beags - you've done it! Bricklin's "safety car"

                  LOL

Yea - 4130 CM is out - has to be tigged (per Alston)

So DOM "mild steel" in the diameter and thickness required for a 10.50 set up, I will mig it myself.
(I can tig - but not contorted like plastic man inside a car)

Austin - the electrical conduit mock up is pure brilliance! There is an even more local place that hasn't gotten back to me yet that would probably work with me on the bending - they have fixed some pontoon logs for me previously for very reasonable prices, they've moved into a bigger shop and I think have a hydraulic bender now - something they didn't have at the small shop in-town.

The BDRacing options look good as well, and no disrespect to Alston - the free shipping is a motivator - especially considering Alston is in California.
There's always something new to learn.

A tig'd mild steel roll cage tells me one of two things, either someone has too much time, or they have too much money.

We have a speed shop here that will bend your cage if you take them your a pattern they charge $12.00 a bend the more bends you have the cheaper it is. So you may check with your local speed shop because most of these guys are racers too and build thier own cars.

I went to Jeg's.com and they have a 12 point cage for $299.00 for a 62 Falcon and then you could modifie it to fit your use. Maybe something to think about or a least look into and Jegs is not that far from you so shipping may not be so bad or you could pick it up yourself. Hope this helps.

I've used one of those cages and it was a very nice fit. Had it in a '61 Comet wagon, modified it a little obviously.

                              hmmmmmmmm

                              http://www.jegs.com/i/Jegster/550/94...61#moreDetails

truck freight is $119 from Jegs, and I'm betting that's seam welded not DOM tubing.

for 119 I can go get it, or - go with the BDracing deal from chicagoland and go pick that one up:

DOM mild steel cage here is $599 with free shipping.... I don't know what they'd charge if I pick it up:

                              http://www.ebay.com/itm/260893803271...84.m1423.l2649

Both of these I'd have to add the optional cost of swing out / removable door bars and make the rear cross bar removable as well.

There is a shop close to me that will bend one up pretty reasonably, it's called windpushers.
