62 Falcon - $5k challenge, how will it rise from the ranger's ashes?

Is there any reason not to run a straight bar from the firewall down to the frame? It looks like if I start the bar high enough on the firewall - I can run it straight down to the frame in front of the upper control arm and clear everything by about an inch - it would save all the hassle of bending the tubing.


I got the 4.5 backspacing summit 5 spokes last night - they are just about centered in the wheel well, we mounted the 27x10.5x15 ET Streets on them this morning.
(yes - I ordered the 4.5bs, returned them in favor of 3.75 bs, then discovered my mock up was off since the axle wasn't centered, ordered the 4.5bs again, and boxed up the 3.75bs to return... someone at summit must be laughing)

Last night I got more welding and fabbing done in the engine compartment and a few other odds and ends.... one piece at a time.

Eh, we all screw up from time to time. At least you can return the stuff you dont need.

Got tubing Friday but didn't get it installed, I don't think straight is going to work - that would be too easy.

Got the X brace built to stiffen up the rear of the car.

Fixed the swiss cheese area of the passenger trunk floor - where the battery will eventually go.

Got the "rear firewall" built including a piece across the package tray that is screwed in place so it's removable.

Got the welding on the M2 finished including the clearancing for the steering U joint under the driver side engine mount.

Got about 5lb more of the old undercoating off the underside of the floors - the paint is still shiny underneath!

Is it sad that I kinda like that color on it and think it should be that color again? Now you are motivating me to get more done. I wonder how long until its on the ground, running and moving under its own power.

I wish it was the keyboard fueling this burning and "asleep" feeling in my right arm - it's the car work - it's happened before when I was building the stairs and decks and boat house. Over 40 really has its drawbacks. The first thing webmd recommends to address the symptoms is to stop the activity causing them - well - I aint quitting working on this car! SO - last night I tried Ice for about 30 minutes before bed, 2 aleve, and wrapped it up before bed - didn't help - same thing as the last week or so - sleep until about 3am - then toss and turn with arm on fire.

Thanks guys - I just keep chipping away at it, still feels like I have a moutain to climb, I appreciate your moral support.

I may seek a sponsorship from 5 hour energy.

Todd - I agree - eventually it will be very close to the factory color - ming green - which sure looks like blue - and it only one color chip away from acapulco blue - we plan to mix a color that's half way between those two - should be perfect - probably add some pearl to it.
Still going back and forth about painting the roof white - Rhonda likes that look - so we'll probably go with it.

I know that story about the shoulder and tendon pain. Cortisode shots are all that help me... but trust me, getting one in your wrist is a pain you'll not soon forget.

Rhonda is a captian or nothing person, usually I have whiskey/bourbon and coke if shes having her captain.

I've got to do something - it's getting worse - usually I have full feeling in my three middle fingers by 9am - it's almost noon and they're still "tingly". not good.

It's really bad first thing in the morning - ever tried shaving and brushing your teeth with your off hand?

As a recent Captain Convert, "smuggle" some Lady "aboard" and see if the taste is "Arrright".

A city policeman turned me onto the Lady, as he noticed my near purchase of resupplies of Captain. Said it had all or more of the taste, and 1/2 of the price.

Turns out, he was right. Infact, me likes the taste even more better!

On the fingers - see if smashing them with a decent sized hammer helps restore feeling?

I've been digging a 1/8" x 1/4" splinter from the webbing between thumb and forefinger since Friday evening. Doctor attempted removal Saturday morning, put me on antibiotics and said to live with it. More home remedy to the rescue!!

(I know none of this really helps, carpal sucks. I've about given up riding the motorcycles as my hands go completely numb after 5 miles.)
