Well - the summit wheels came in - and as the box states:
"TEST FIT THESE WHEELS BEFORE MOUNTING TIRES - IF YOU MOUNT EM, YOU OWN EM"

I'm glad I did - the 4.5 backspace is too much, I was very deflated thinking this was the only backspace they offered - but I checked again this morning, and they make them with 3.75 backspace - so those are on the way! Now the fun of returning stuff to summit begins.

I had to expand more of the trans tunnel to make room for the big balancer collar on the end of the AOD driveshaft.... which looks like it's going to work without any changes in length!

I should have all the dowels, etc, I need to assemble the engine - the plan is to hear this thing run next weekend.
Transmission is done - the problem was with the governor.

I have the summit X pipe kit, cherry bomb turbos, and flex pipes - so I have what I need to get the exhaust under it at least to the axle.

I have no idea who made the gold centered aluminum slots - they're a knock off of halibrands - unfortunately one is so porous even after puddying in 10 square inches of the inside of the rim - it still leaks air. There are no markings on the wheels anywhere that ID them.

The vintage 5 spokes are Hustler racing equipment - in the same script font that American racing uses, Made in U.S.A., which is more than I can say for the summit 5 spokes.

John a friend of mine had an Explorer that lost that ring and our local drive shaft builder said they all fall off so leave it off and just balance the drive shaft like it should have been done in the first place.

I routinely knock the rings off the stock driveshafts and have them rebalanced.

We have to run tubes in all the bias ET streets weve had so far. I dont think they hook as good as a real slick for some reason, they should but have experiences tell me otherwise.

OOOPs! Dang it Greg - we missed an opportunity - oh well, there will be more.

New dash gauges are all wired up and ready to plug into the new harness.

More work on the engine - built a piston stop, got the timing pointer ground to be correct, marked and painted, timing cover dowels in the block, timing cover installed with new crank seal and 1/8" npt plug (had to tap the freeze plug hole) for the timing cover dip stick provision, oil pump inspected and installed with new arp drive shaft...... etc.

Correct me if I am wrong, but arent wheels, tires, and brake upgrades not included in the total?

Not if you include the gold chains for you and zymol for the car.

ya know Bob, I've run over a honda on my bike; been down with the flu once; sent a car to NY; and been a runner from a bloodhound more times then is healthy.... and the Corvette is on the road. I know, you got bumped by a car, and while the excuses run wild (and to anyone but a Californian, it'd be merely a flesh wound) - last I checked your Mustang continued to be pro-jackstand. So laugh at my flashy 70s style all you wish, because I'll be driving in a Corvette

FRONT - in case I ever wonder if the head gaskets are on right....

Heads are on, 6.300 pushrods look about right, still have to set the valves.

3.75 back spacing summit wheels look like they will work nicely with the ET Streets. Unfortunately - the wheels are no more of a dish than the 4.5 back space - they don't move the center of the wheel - just make it thicker to change the back spacing.... I guess that's what you get for $116 a wheel instead of the pricier wheels.

Passenger side header is going to get the torch and long bar treatment.... it sure is nice to be able to slide the headers in from the top! I'm loving the room in the engine compartment with the shock towers gone.
