Air makes a big difference for just about all cars. I ran 7 tenths slower in Texas. With a blower. My fabulous web page

The old 582" version of my BBF got 12 MPG and change back in '07 with the EFI, it got 8 the year before with the carb. Didn't get enough drive time on the new 588" this year to have a firm figure. I know it would have been worse, but that was the converter as much as the engine as RPM for a given speed was up almost 500.Originally posted by JeffMcKC View PostI get 13.5 MPG and Crow gets 16 MPG I think. Doc gets 10 before I leaned it out and it will go even more when we do a plug change and tune to it.
I got stuck behind a number of Prius's on the Interstates. always going slow in the left lane. I umm exceeded the MPH rating of my trailer while passing them with the rear tires spinning at 80 MPH. Slick roads I guess.Last edited by CDMBill; November 16, 2011, 01:45 PM.Drag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?Comment

I think Speedster has it right about the who won aspect of the coverage. As to the factual errors, I'm assuming (yes I know what that means) that the featured cars are mostly right, but I'm a bit surprised that they missed spray vs hairdryer on a car that was that visible and in the mix in terms of top three overall. I thought the detailed tech sheet was designed to capture that information but maybe they got misplaced or just the pure lack of time to get it all written and editied and printed form September to early November. How hard is it to notice the difference between a nitrous and a turbo combination? I honestly think the overall coverage of the event wasnt as good this year as it was last year. Would be interesting to give Chad the power to do the write up in HOT ROD to see how different it would be. The class winners didnt even get much credit.Drag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?Comment

Maybe coronas have something to do with it. DF once told me that when the cover is a drag car they don't sell very well. So if the cover yelled Drag Week it wound be a slow newsstand seller.. Or maybe I was drunk and got it all wrong LOLOriginally posted by CDMBill View PostI think Speedster has it right about the who won aspect of the coverage. ugh, only 10mpg on a smallblock? even with a huge converter - I bet we could pick up 30% going to EFI. And you know it's not gonna slow the car down either. Regardless of what your carb guy thinks about EFI... :-)Originally posted by lun40119 View PostI got 10 mpg with my small block on Drag Week..............if it matters to anyone. Cruising on the highway at 4000-4200rpm. 65mph was very comfortable. The motor isn't very happy below 3500rpm.Last edited by dieselgeek; November 22, 2011, 01:12 PM.www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

he should be able to get maybe 2-3 mpg less than what Jeff McKC is getting. Similarly loose converter, similar displacement, but jeff's car weighs less.Originally posted by squirrel View PostI'd like to see that trick!
That's not trickery at all. It's the simple advantage that port EFI has over a carburetor when the engine's not operating at WOT.www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

As rich as it ran going down the road, I don't doubt it'd pick up quite a few MPG's. Like I joked with Speedzter, I probably got better mpg sucking in the hydrocarbon's coming out of Jake's Chevelle, recycling fuel! LOL!Escaped on a technicality.Comment

High HC in the exhaust is usually from running lean, or misfiring for other reasons, such as having a really big camMy fabulous web page

I was having some signal issues while pulling the trailer..... I hadn't done much tuning with the trailer loaded. Jeff, if you ask Doc/Tom about my tuneup it was dead lean on the first day and fought with the temp and burned some coating off my headers. Made an IAB adjustment on the second day which almost killed Doc/Tom, and the 3rd/4th days were much better.
Tom is building me another new dominator for street driving..............I think it will be quicker to just swap carbs than it will be to change the tuneup everyday.
Still haven't forgotten about the offer on the FI Geek..........in fact, I think it will be something I am interested in for winter 12/13. I am not made of money like Jeff and Doc, so I have to do things in steps.
Randall.................sorry bout all the brain damage fella.............;)Team Clueless
