I just bought an 18" breaker bar and 3/4" six point socket from Lowes this weekend, both Kobalt. They aren't China made.............they're Taiwanese.Originally posted by SpiderGearsMan View PostTRENDY ..HOME DEPOT AND LOWEES IS NOTHING BUT CHINESE TOOLS the service is so bad they help local GIANTS thriveLast edited by moparmaniac07; November 2, 2011, 07:36 PM.Comment

I don't even walk into walmark, hate the place, homedepot.. sorry, off to the family owned place.. or a real surply company..Originally posted by bnjny View PostWhat is with all the hate for those with MBA's or a college education? We are afforded the luxury of choosing where we buy our tools.
If you don't like what Summit has to offer, shop somewhere else. I will not shop at Walmart or Home Depot because I feel they destroy local businesses. Felt that way for the last 15 years and do not spend my money with those companies.
How many of you 'buy american' folks buy the junk Walmart and Home Depot spit out?
why the hate, the white collar's are the ones that send all the jobs bye bye al for the almighty bottom line.. and for stock price of that companies stock.. slowly eating our own.. and here we sit at the edge of that cliff, feel free to take that first step, it's a lou lou.
to bizzy watching the bottom line to see the bigger picture.. no matter where you make it to save a buck no one can bye your junk if they have no money.. if we don't change our thinking the ship will have sank.. and we are out of time.Comment

i like summit and jegs, the local speed shop that is left is just too damn expensive. i tried him a few times. i never bought tools from summit, oh wait i bought a cylinder hone, ring expander pliers, ring compressor, and cleaning brushes from them. i cant say i would have bought the good stuff ahd they offered it, i dont build engines for a living so the cheap junk fit the bill. i bought a couple of there branded fittings years ago and they were garbage. i learned my lesson from that crap. lowes and hd, they are pretty much not an option for me for tools anymore. ill go right to the source when i need cheap junk, horrible freight. sears doesnt have much of a selection anymore either though.Comment

These 'debates' always irk me... There is a lot of manufacturing going on in the US. Just not the same kind that we all believe will be the country's savior...Comment

I used to work for a company that made buffing pads. I fixed the sewing machines. Meguires was a friend of the owner and we made all of the burgundy/wht and yellow/wht solo one pads and most of the 4000 series pads. if you bought one of those pads in the last 3 yrs, it came from my machines. But 3M bought out meguires and changed to a chinese source for the pads now. everybody got dumped about 6 mo's ago now... I am trying to do rust repair on my hotrod... and am forced to buy from harbor freight... Example: My Dewalt angle grinder wore out and the repair part was 37$, HF had 3 different ones for less than $40. guess what I bought? It bums me out to be forced to buy chinese, but the option is grinding by hand eh?...... and thier sandpaper SUCKS.Mike in Southwest OhioComment

I go to the locally owned Ace store often too, they have some sharp guys there, but I still baffle them when I'm looking for robot parts
our ace closed (the owner retired) and the local hardware/appliance store burned down. home depot and walmart are taking over! Now with joplin mo getting messed up in the tornado alot of goods and services have been hurt and it seems the crap takes over. I miss ace

well, you were kinda talkin' about the 'chinese products' situation... ya can't buy some stuff from here because it's not made here no mo... I also ought to add that loss of the meguires contract was typical of allot of stuff going poorly with my co. (not just meguires... i think black and decker dumped us also for a cheaper source) I thought folks might find it relevant.Originally posted by groucho View PostWhat the Hell?Mike in Southwest OhioComment

Unless its more than 3-4 years old it's a Chinese company that owns the brand "Philips" for north america..... As well, even on the old ones the screens were made in Korea at a joint venture between Philips & LG.Originally posted by Stich496 View Postmy made in usa plasma royal philups branded
Assembly may have been done in the US (better than nothing), but chances are it is not really "made in the USA" (no matter what packaging says, the rules for labeling "made in XXX" are easily manipulated)Comment
