Am I guilty of buying china crap .... yea, sometimes it's just they way it is, but I make an honest attempt to buy made in the USA whenever possible.
I agree, there is a market for Chinese crap, and I am guilty of buying some of it. BUT, I'd at least like a CHOICE. When I see 5 similar tools on one page of the Summit cat, and none are made here...I lose that CHOICE. I at least want the choice....Make sense?

In their tool catologue ...I'm about 3/4 of the way through it, and I don't think that 5% of the tools they offer are made here. I think we should at the very least be offered a choice. I bought feed lines a while back for my new water heater. After 3 freakin stores I sad F*ck it and bought the only offered Chinese ones. For something like an indoor feed line...I'd rather spend $25 a piece for American than $8 for Chinese. But, I had no CHOICE. Now I cringe when I leave for the weekend. China's gonna stick it in our ass really good someday. Some day soon.

Yeah Groucho I'm with ya on this one.

Given the choice, I'll buy American every time .....even if it costs more.

I never even thought about buying tools from summit. I don't buy they're "summit" brand speed parts either. I buy quite a bit of name brand usa made speed parts from Summit, that's about it

                  And I agree 100%

I will also admit that I buy china made crap tools .... but not for the tool box. I keep these in an equally cheap crap tool bag in the trunk so when I set them out at the track and they get swiped, I'm only out $19.95!

What is with all the hate for those with MBA's or a college education? We are afforded the luxury of choosing where we buy our tools.

If you don't like what Summit has to offer, shop somewhere else. I will not shop at Walmart or Home Depot because I feel they destroy local businesses. Felt that way for the last 15 years and do not spend my money with those companies.

How many of you 'buy american' folks buy the junk Walmart and Home Depot spit out?

I thought the Summit Tool Catalog was just a reprint of the Harbor Freight Catalog...........

I don't shop Walmart much either. I go there only for name brand BBQ lighter fluid and Krylon spray paint. I can only hope those are both made here. I also avoid Home Depot. There's not an employee in the whole place worth his/her salary. Total dumbasses. Ask a question and look at the blank stare they give as they get ready to guess at an answer...with a tone of voice which assures you it's a guess. I go to True Value/Anawalt Lumber. They all know the store very well, and the helpfulness of the Manager is very reminiscent of the 70's. When a Manager WAS a real Manager

You should have seen the look on the guys face at Home Depot when I asked him where the "Pipe Dope" was??......(you do know what Pipe Dope is, right)......

Or when I told the chick that they didn't put the "Black Caulk" in my bag when I checked out........(it was hard to say that with a straight face).......

It's not so much I don't like what Summit has to offer, as much as they don't support USA companies. If they bought some of the volume from USA as China....and a few other big companies did as well, don't you think it might save/make more USA jobs, and help more USA companies stay afloat? I'm sure if USA tools were offered, they'd sell. But, there's not very much offered by Summit. Put that USA stamp on the product like Edelbrock does. A lot of people will opt for China made shit if USA alternatives aren't even offered. I buy China shit all the time, because it's somewhat rammed down my throat with no USA option for the same item

I shop at walmart, home depot, and lowes all the time, but I don't ask them to teach me about hardware, and I don't buy many tools there.

I go to the locally owned Ace store often too, they have some sharp guys there, but I still baffle them when I'm looking for robot parts
