No citation on record for date/time/location and complainant's name (me) per county clerks office.

Incident entry on SRO's daily log at the S/O: 10-31-11/1412/ 6400 blk w arbor/ comp dunahue on trfc issues/ cont 338_z_ (name left off) & 765_i_ (name left off) (i'm obviously not going to id these kids on the 'net either)/ advs on safe drvng, followup @ chs

I also asked the clerk how many ticket/citations issued for that day by that officer ..... ZERO

The punishment needs to be done by the parents, schools or courts, all the officers job is, is to gather the evidence to be used against them, it is not his job to Judge.........

I fully believe that the cop in this situation was wrong, The "infracton" did not occur on school grounds and school should not have been part of the punishment. Would they call your store manager and make you work overtime as a warning? I think not.
Someone said earlier school is a privilege, well so is driving, and if you abuse the privilege it gets revoked, you face consequences, your parents face consequences whatever. F'ing behave behind the wheel or get out.

Stitch if you think 17 yr olds hauling ass through your neighborhood is ok, fine. I don't think it is but you go ahead and think whatever you want. When they come through your neighborhood and loose control of their vehicle and hit the lady pushing the stroller and kill her and her daughter will you say "boys will be boys", "We were kids once"... Yeah we were kids once, and several idiots I knew in Highschool died then or shortly after in high speed auto wrecks on city streets. Most of my friends took it out of town or to deserted areas when they wanted to show off. If nothing else these kids Bamfster mentions should be punished for being idiots and doing this where people live.

Please take a look at this link, it is a group trying to get kids to race in safe legal areas...seems like maybe what we should actually be about as the adults looking at and arguing over this is making a positive difference

In Phoenix the schools are responsible for the students from the time they leave the school to the time they get home......

And in this case the cop DID act as the judge and let them off...... I know, stichy is going to say I'm pretending to be an angel, quite frankly I did a lot of stupid stuff when I was younger, got caught and had to deal with the consequences. I'm definitely not for letting kids walk when they do stupid stuff

On a side note, me and some friends are talking about getting a measure put on the ballot that would limit minor traffic violations to a maximum of a $25 fine.........Because face it the only way to have smaller government is to take their money away........

That is how YOU "see it".....Like I said it's his job to "gather evidence", maybe he looked at the evidence as being "weak"....Put it this way no body "Clocked" their speed, so it becomes an "Estimate", but that leaves "doubt", which can get that evidence thrown out and the case dismissed .......And as for Dan's account of what was going on, it again leaves room for "doubt", this is were video would be better..........So the Officer weighs the facts and realizes that the court case is going to be "WEAK", and looks to see what would be a better way to punish them......

The thing is with an "estimate" on the Speed, those tickets will be thrown out and the kids will skate scott free and ultimately feel they got one over on the Justice System.........

All I know is the first time I got pulled over by the cops was for Drag Racing up on Central, I was 16 years old and I was scared shitless!!!!!!!!.........Luckily the officer let me go, but not after giving me a stern talking to and telling me to go home and stay there for the rest of the night. Which is exactly what I did.........

If we can get it on the ballot and the "People" vote for it and it passes, the government here will have no say in changing it, since the law would require a vote of the people to change the fine amount.........

There is also another group that is trying to get a measure on the ballot that would make it a Felony for any Elected Public Official to Lie, Mislead, or Omit the facts/truth in the public forum......If found guilty the elected official will lose their elected position and are required to do mandatory prison time, with no chance of early release..........

We here in Arizona are taking our state back from the government and we're doing "By the People" and taking the law making out of their hands......

Well, as I said in my O/P ... the sheriff turned the corner as they were passing the house for the 2nd time .... so he DID witness it, so it's obviously not a hearsay deal. Plus I told him I would be more than happy to appear as a witness, and at that time I would provide all of my training, certificates and experience to the court.

I just hope all the pee pee touching, let's not make the kids responsible people here never have to deal with the ill affects of these type of situations can have on all involved.

are you for real.. no one said to let them get away with anything.. just use a different form of punishment..
instead of having to write them up for street racing, cause if you're gonna cause a court date with a biz body retired cop you have to do it by the book.. or it'll get thrown out..

the fact that your siding with a retired cop that in this thread o.k.'d officers to break the traffic law because it's hard for the general public to know if they are on a call or not. and said he wouldn't ticket or arrest another officer of the law..
