We're in... booked a room booked at Hilton Hotel and Suites Niagara Falls/Fallsview

They have a Special Rate called "CARP/50 PLUS Rate "

which was " PROOF OF AGE (50 YEARS) OR CARP MEMBERSHIP "

Just said you have to be over 50 not for young punks

and it lower than the Senior rate (over 62)

PROOF OF AGE (50 YEARS) was the same as the AAA rate.

I'm going to keep my eyes on this thread. I'll see what you all decide for hotels and stuff. I like the idea of rooms overlooking the falls, because I've never been out there before. If I did go out there with you guys, I would probably leave a day early and stop overnight at a halfway point somewhere. It's over an 8 hour drive (that's if the weather is good), so I'd rather do two days out and one day back because of the whole sleep factor.

I have to say it is nice looking at a roadtrip and just mapping the most direct route, instead of trying to find scenic byways like I do for NERR

If you need a passport

It only takes about a week to get one, after you submit it at the PO.
Get the form on line (see Link), get your picture taken and make an appointment with local post office. really pretty easy

TJ we went there for the first time last year. Stayed at the Marriott, GREAT view.., of the Horseshoe falls.
It was a nice walk (in the spring/summer) but not so much in December I believe

There are several hotels with great views, we'll post the info here (I sent an invite on FB too) I'm sure there will be more info here.
I based my hotel reservation of what I thought was Bob's plan....

I've been checking on other hotels sites, and Marriott Gateway and the Embassy Suites have approx. the same rates and they are just down the street from the casino.
The Hilton requires 48 hours notice for cancellation, the Marriott and Embassy require 72 hours.
Parking for these hotels are approx. $20.00 per day (I believe) and I'm checking with my sister on parking at he Casino instead (she works there). Sometimes if you get a players card and play at the casino, you can park for free. It's all within walking distance.
The Marriott and Embassy Suites may have better views than the Hilton. The Casino may block the view of the Hilton if you are not on high enough floors.

This is info I received from my sister who works at casino:



parking is 5.00 sun thru fri. then 10. on sat. that is a flat rate, meaning if they come in on fri and stay till sun. they pay whatever the rate is that day. but everytime you leave you have to pay. If they get a pac card they have to get rated play, which depending on what they are playing could cost them more then 20 00, or eat in one of our restaurants, and we will swipe the card and give them free parking.

we'll make a note of the times Bob, but I'm sure we'll be talking before then. I was speaking to a friend last night that stayed at Marriott, and she said the view from the rooms there were amazing. She also said the hotel was really nice.
I think I'm going to book both for now and cancel one later. We might as well stay there too even though we're only 25 min away.
