Good runs guys.I know it was an event you were looking forward to attending and you did quite well. Jake was quite the nervous Nellie.Maybe I should have brought a palett so he could do some painting to relax. LOL.Originally posted by jackstand View Postyea had alot of fun. The BB/PA Malibu was a blast to watch you guys deserve all the kudos and more.
Jeff, On Doc's pass was 1/8th MPH on track for the 150 MPH through the lights and the 660 time consistet with an 8.xx? I'm wondering f the data logs show higher rpm than usual which might indicate that the moisture started well before the last 100'.
It wasn't black tracking as in spinnng the whole time its just the heat differential you can see down track. I noticed this at Frank Hawley's school and asked them. You could see the tracks all the way down but the tires aren't spinning. Tracks with a good rubber coated surface do that which kinda looks like black tracking.
I have also lost my enthusiam for parachuts as a way to catch a car that's gotten sideways at the 140-160 MPH range. Again at Hawley's class we looked at video and unless your doing 200+, the time form when you pull the handle to the time of effective deployment is tto long to save a car that's out of shape. Its the driver that has to have the skills to catch it the way Doc did. It can't hurt but it wo't prevent a crashDrag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?Comment

Doc and I have talked about this some, it was a kitchen sink pass 1/2 lbs up on air pressure even so no chanc of it going into shake. When you get one set on kill ( up on pressure) the tire gets round early on and the mph goes up but they are also on a fine line to drive. This type radial grows, not like a bias but runs on a small patch or the center on the bigend. We had set the ARB neutral on it and two flats of preload in the right top bar after the party in Topeka. He had taken all the preload out at Texas after talking to Larry. Thats why it wiggled early on I think. In Topeka he put it to the tight side of neutral on the preload and ARB but the rain hit so we will have to wait for a second chance. It was on a 8 second pass for sure. It runs a little more MPH than the ET It would have been 149/150 for sure which is plenty for a 8.99999999 LOL
The lenght of time on a chute will also bepend on how long the cords are. Doc had saved his old 52 that way a couple times.Last edited by JeffMcKC; September 26, 2011, 12:47 PM.2007 SBN/A Drag Week Winner & First only SBN/A Car in the 9's Till 2012

Yes, Bill I think it would have been his 8.9999999 with not to much problem, it was a 1.26 60' and his has always ran out the back better than the Calculator shows. It had been running 148 and change. So I think it would have picked up the little it needed as it went.2007 SBN/A Drag Week Winner & First only SBN/A Car in the 9's Till 2012

Bill, remember Doc has wheel speed input to his Megasquirt as well as RPM. His datalog on that pass is *very* interesting. He spun at the top of second and *just* clipped the rev limiter while shifting into third. Then at the top of third, the tire spin becomes obvious where the car gets sideways. Just overlaying the VSS and RPM lines shows converter slip in a visual representation, and makes it super easy to spot wheelspin.
That was definitely an 8.99 or better pass if it weren't for all the dancing around.Last edited by dieselgeek; October 21, 2011, 01:40 PM.www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

I do remmember which is why I asked about the RPM, on a re-listen it seems you can hear the motor hit the rev limiter before you see the the rear end come around.. It seems that the you can see the car move around a bit on the gear changes as well, 1-2 and 2-3 so it could be there is something left in the suspension setup, at least that day at that track.
I'm stuck on the no drama 8 second car deal. What is interesting is the physics, as we try to get street cars going race car et's and speeds a clean launch and good down track behavior seems to be more of a challenge despite the thought that more weight ought to dampen everything. I suspect the the irrestribale force versus immovable object concept accounts for the more violent behavior when things aren't perfectly linear.Drag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?Comment

We will be changing rear shocks, the Koni's are out of adjustments, I think that will help. I nderstand what your saying, the track prep has a lot to do with these cars only so many changes you can make with no more runs than Doc and I make in a year at speed.2007 SBN/A Drag Week Winner & First only SBN/A Car in the 9's Till 2012
