I would like to take the opprotunity to recognize and thank Glenn and his partner for their generosity and thoughtfulness on Dragweek during a fellow Dragweekers need.
About 150 miles out of Amarillo on what we now know from locals as the third most deadly road in Oklahoma, we waved as we passed Glenn on the side of the road appearing to be fueling his '56. Five miles down road from there, the bumpy roads finally took its toll on the hitch on the back of our car...it broke off leaving us stranded on the side of the road (what little there was!). The Prostreet N/A Mustang was leading the class and only had to finish the drive for the win...now sitting precariously with us wondering "What the hell do we do now?"
Glenn pulls to a stop on this dangerous stretch of road, barely getting his car off the road between safety and rolling it over. He asks what happened and I show him the broken hitch coming out of the parachute mount. He asks what size it was and if it was chromemoly and I told him...he says "I think I have one" and runs to his trailer. Glenn produces a 1 1/4 chromemoly tube with the exact 1/2 hole in the right spot and pad for our ball to bolt right on saying he was headed out the door and thought to throw it into the trailer! Our day was saved...not to mention our lives on that stretch of road. Glenn rode off without my proper thanks and excepted no money.
Mechanical problems sidelined Curts Mustang, but I wanted everyone to know how much Glenns generousity meant to us on that day.
Thanks Glenn
