Mufflers back on, took other turndown off and it sounds so much better, messed with the carb more, tied up plugs wires, ran better.

30 second long video of being driven, tranny feels real good and firm, not too hard like my truck.

Don't feel bad about the mufflers. I backfired the Impala and blew all the vacuum caps off the carb.

Muffler falls off - nice! lmao. Love it. At least you fess up to it.

Good to hear it, nice job! I still get a little shakey giggly when they run for the first time, kinda like a new girlfriend.

especially when you blow her muffler off?

that's sweet that you've got it running! I've used lots of different wires, I've yet to notice any difference - granted, all name brand, but even diameter didn't seem to make any difference.... I suppose if my car engines went further than 20-30k before I decided to upgrade (or they didn't survive) the difference might be apparent; but even so, I still think if they feel like quality wires, they're fine (scientific, eh? )

Im more worried about fitment, because no wires laying on the headers will last.

I kicked the four barrel in for the first time and the muffler blew off, my first thought was "the four barrel is louder than a quadrajet".

Does any intake bolts go into a water jacket?

No bolts into the water jacket, but all but the four corner bolts go into the lifter valley. Thread sealer on those bolts will help keep things clean. The two bolts at each corner on either side of the water cross overs can leak antifreeze if not torqued down.

                            I'd say it's a good score.

Lots of people will tell you a 650 is too small for a 406, but if your interests are just drivability and fuel mileage, it's a fine choice. You don't need a 750 or larger unless you're trying to get fastest ET's at the drag strip.

I was in between a 750 and 650. Small cam and stock heads and I drive it. Ill try it, sell it if needs bigger or when I do heads.
