Changed water pump and replaced the clutch fan with an electric.

BIG NEWS...

The right speedo gear and housing came in today. Slid right in. Fluid in Tranny, leaking around dipstick tube, be okay.

poured gas down carb, hit the key, Fired instantly, ran 3 seconds and died. I pump carb and cranked for 5 seconds about 3 times, realized the fuel distribution tube on the Holley had an O-ring leaking. Took it apart. Probably be monday.

BTW smoke came out of carb. Did I flood it or it still not fill the bowl?

timing may be off - it also could be there's fuel puddled in the intake (from pouring it down the carb)...

Holley's don't like it when you pump the gas without the fuel bowls being filled. If the carb is empty, crank the engine with the ignition off, if possible, or the coil wire off. DO NOT PUMP THE GAS. About ten seconds of cranking will fill the fuel bowls. Work the throttle to make sure the accelerator pump is primed. Then connect the coil wire and crank the engine again. DO NOT PUMP GAS WHILE CRANKING. Pump gas before cranking. The engine should fire with the throttle closed. When it catches, then pump gas to keep it running. Otherwise, you will get the lean out back fire. This will save you from buying a new power valve. Dropping some gas down the gullet may help get things going. But, it doesn't take much.

If it's running really rich at idle. First check to see if the fuel is leaking past the boosters at idle. That will show float out of adjustment, float sunk, or stuck needle/seat.

A little grease on the o rings will help get them slid in without them pinching or tearing. (That sounds really dirty.)

It never backfired. So pv should still be good. I'm playing paintball today for first time in a long time. May try to get it back togetber tn. I'm exicted now.

Use a small dab of Vaseline on the O rings... Excess disolves easier than grease.

Hmm... I've always just used WD-40 on the Holley O-rings.

It ran for about thirty seconds at half throttle, I know that Isn't what was perfect. I was way into the gas so I knew something was wrong. Its not getting fuel from front squirters. I'm gonna pull the needle out tm. Got dark.

I use vasoline for everything. O-rings did fine.

I wouldnt use wd40. It can expand the o rings. Pinching becomes easier that way.

I think it's the oils that cause it. Never tried vasoline myself.

Always been told if valve seals were leaking, pour atf and they'll swell.

We use vasoline on all the transmission rebuilds.

Then again, I've put brake fluid in an auto trans to get the seals to swell up and stop leaking.
