West Coast Caravan to DW 2011

So how many are coming thru Denver? Anyone staying over? I'll need a little lead time to set up secure parking for any more than 2 rigs. If need be, I can get the track to let guys park there stuff there ... they have overnight security on the weekends.

My plan is still to meet up with Bill and crew on the 7th somewhere and follow along, just not sure where that meet will be now. Maybe Barstow or Vegas? I'm about 6 1/2 hrs to Barstow.

We're thinking of heading east on 10 a little ways, north on 25, east on 40, then on the small highways northeast thru Liberty on the way to Topeka.

Our plans ahve firmed up a bit and we hope we can get in a bit of a caravan as we go. I'm leaving SoCal, Wednesday Sept. 7 in the morning heading up I15 and will hit Las Vegas around noon to pick up my co-pilot Floyd Azlan at the LV Airport at 12:30. We'll have lunch and continue North on the I15 until we hit the I70 in Southwest Utah, and then strike out for Grand Junction. Not much in between St. George, Utah and Grand Junction but we'll see how we feel. Its 385 from St. George to Grand Junction. That would leave the drive across Colorado and then Kansas.

I hope to hit Topeka or Kansas City in time for some TnT at HPT or other nearby track Saturday afternoon/evening. And then HPT for Sunday and DW 2011.

If all goes well Tuesday at the 'new' dyno appointment I should be good to leave Wed. I'm gonna try to leave early enough to meet you guys in Vegas but that means around 4 am for me so not totally sure about that one since I'm driving solo. One way or another I'm hoping to get there by Saturday as well.

For all you guys coming I70 thru Denver .... I drove Glenwood Canyon to Denver yesterday. Heavy construction/resurfacing both sides of Vail pass. Moderate construction (looked like work on the jersey barriers) at Breckenridge/Dillon all the way to the tunnel. They had resurfacing going on around Idaho Springs and up Floyd Hill, but it seems like they may be done.

A few weeks ago I drove Utah State line to Denver as well ... Grand Junction area had just routine road maintenance going on, and there wasn't much else until Vail Pass ... Hope this helps everyone out.

just got the car unloaded from the dyno. good news, things runs like the proverbial raped ape, bad news...overheating engine and trans. New goal is to leave Wed noonish with at least trans cooling fixed (I think I know the problem) and a new radiator/fan ordered and shipped to the hotel. I'm sure somebody will be there to help me install it.

too late to give up damnit!! I'll see you guys there...
