Working on it, it's supposed to be sent to my e-mail, then I'll see if I can figure it out from there.

While I have to say that a first start is no doubt one of the greatest sounds in the world, an unmuffled 2.3t sounds like a tractor or boat motor. Even the young man helping us commented to the likeness.

As much as my mind wants it to sound like a flat crank V8 or V12, I can't even pull that off in my dreams.

Oh, and dropped the car off at Tolle Fab this morning to get the exhaust done. We decided on one 3" all the way back. Trying to sneak anything throught the Panhard bar on the passenger side is just not worth the effort. Since I always hide the exhaust, there is no reason to worry about dual tailpipes.

I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

Ah the hell with it, the car won't be ready to be picked up until next week. I'm going to Bonneville.

Have fun at Bonneville Bob. I've seen rush exhaust jobs. You don't wanna rush them.

This is our very trusted fabricator.

He was all proud of the work yesterday, then he pulled it apart and painted the raw metal with ceramic paint, assembled it back together and then this morning dropped the car on the ground. He checked the clearances again and was unhappy. So he flat told me that he was going to keep it to get it right.

Mike Tolle is his name, use to be the head fabricator at Comptech when they were Honda's racing arm (before the place imploded, but that's another story). When the place got sold, he was asked to leave because the new owners were idiots. I was his first customer when he went out on his own. He has always treated me and my racing buddies very well.

If Mike needs more time, he gets it from me.

It's funny, in a cynical way, how often I use the words to the newly liberated employee - "you know, you have the same skills as the day before, there's no reason why you can't do it for yourself...."

Car is back, work is fantastic.

I'm a little bummed that its louder than I expected. But I didn't get a lot of time to listen to it.

We're on the home stretch, two weekends left before it needs to be on the road. My oldest son is going to come over to help me at least one day. The biggest issue is to get it back together enough to go to the smog station and get it smogged. Then I can get tags.

There will still be stuff that needs done after that, but I want to drive it to work on September 3rd.

I'm excited, but also worried about you, Bob.

On one hand, assuming you don't step in front of another car full of teenagers; you should make your goal.

On the other hand, if it's too loud, you're too old.... which means you should sell it to pimp out your minivan.....

I need to get the air conditioning evaporator installed, then everything from there on out is progress. I should have done it when I did the heater. Thankfully, reinstalling the dash was where it looks like I quit two years ago.

I want to smog the car next week.

... and you confused me, Bob - I looked up to you. You were the model hotrodder (quirky, but a role model nonetheless).... but too loud? sigh

and what is this "smog" thing you talk about? Would Steve McQueen bow to the man with his smog machine? I think not.... how about Chuck Norris? no, the smog machine would run away if Chuck Norris looked at it.
