while that is true, the Aussies have had this motor since 2000 and have been doing amazing things with them - so it's not new technology, the only real snafu in mine is the VVT, but even that is easy to control either with GM's computer or the MS3x that I have.... really, if you're capable of rebuilding motors; learning how to wire for speed is the next step... jump in, water's fine.... oh yeah, est. hp on this motor is 500, capable of 700 as it sits; and the sky is the limit with forged pistons. All this out of a 6 cylinder that gets 30 mpg on the highway in a 4500 lb cadillac

truly a worthy project.... my first turbo car was a 76 Buick Skyhawk with a 79 231 turbo motor - and despite that car, I still love em.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

I almost painted mine Buick Red to pay homage to its ancestry, but I went with Pontiac Blue instead because its in a Pontiac and it looks better in a Pewter Metallic engine bay.Comment

I have a highly scientific way of determining what color to paint a motor. If it's a car I don't care about, am selling soon, or a diesel - black. If not, orange or red - because it's far easier to find leaks on a bright color then blackOriginally posted by LastCallKillIt View PostI almost painted mine Buick Red to pay homage to its ancestry, but I went with Pontiac Blue instead because its in a Pontiac and it looks better in a Pewter Metallic engine bay.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

I like Ford red better then the GM equivalents.... I call it affirmative action - since Fords don't go, I'll at least put their paint on something that does

So awhile ago I bought parts for a refractory so that I could cast parts. It got on the list, and moved down, and moved down... but finally... here it is
first a bit of header paint to keep the outside nice

some supplies

form in place

filling the refractory

filled

and top

now wait for the concrete to dry (minimum 3 days) - but they say a week... so next week I'll fill it with bricquets and start a fire to remove the water
then cast some pieces (like that bloodhound hood ornament for my wife's car)Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment
