Hell I thought I was building a small car...that thing is tight! Glad to see others who are gluttens for punishment. Very kool little hotrod!

I think, by the view of your rack, that you're is smaller.... I tell people with this one that I only cut the entire center of the car out...
but I did get a bit accomplished, I'd laid out and punched out the firewall, but needed to bend it... when I was in Portland my dad and I used his brake and bent it.... now to do the final fitting

my dad has a 130 ton 12' press brake
so a qualified yes with the pipe - it's a 1 1/8" round bar welded to a 6" x 3/8" steel plate. We used a 1 1/2" 90* bottom die
and yes, I have been eyeing several in this area (it's a 7 hour drive to/from to use his brake)Last edited by SuperBuickGuy; April 20, 2012, 05:41 AM.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

I'm hoping that I have time to make it permanent tonight... I need to move the top back an inch or so, so nope on the shelf... however, the cowl is above that, which is nice and wide for your drinking pleasure.
Then wire the motor.... it's funny to me how seemingly unrelated things need to be done to continue forward progress. The firewall is necessary to mount the MS3, throttle, brakes, modify the steering (I still don't know what I'm going to do about that because the wheel is huge, and too far forward), mount the fuse panel...
anyway, I best get crackingDoing it all wrong since 1966Comment

My man, are you in luck! See I just happened to be reading this today, and I have the perfect solution.Originally posted by SuperBuickGuy View Postmodify the steering (I still don't know what I'm going to do about that because the wheel is huge, and too far forward),anyway, I best get cracking
Ready? Okay..... you install a smaller steering wheel, and move it back some. Taadaa!!
And you don't even need to get cracking, I just covered the cracking for you! (Some days the lights just all go on in my head, glad to share with you)
Please remember to tip the wait staff, and drive safely! Badabop!

Yowza - seat placement is going to be tricky in this thing, bottom hinged pedals always take some getting used to when transitioning from top hinged.
This car is the perfect candidate for a tilt AND telescoping steering column. There's always something new to learn.Comment

Damn it looks small.
I'm sure its an optical illusion, but I can't help but imagine having to sit on the trans tunnel to drive it.
Maybe you should put the wheel in the center! ;-)
It should be a blast to drive!Last edited by DirtyWhiteBoy; April 25, 2012, 05:13 PM.A.K.A. BrianComment

I have an '85 Rx-7 I want to swap a bigger HP motor into it, and can't quite decide on which make to go with, I aw an ad for a Thunderbird SC with a supercharged motor and suspension pieces I could use, but it looks like you've got your hands full with the Fiat, it'll be a monster when it's done.Comment

as I've used up 15' of 1 5/8" DOM tube and still don't have a roll bar or more material; I pulled this little thing back into the prime position
Install lights over layout bench

square the wall to the body

cut larger holes for the brake/clutch pedals

make filler pieces
