Is all the square tubing a theme to go with the Square exhaust?

Dude! - Can you bend square tubing to make square tube primary headers? Just for Chad!

I've actually done it - but not with bent tubes. I had inner and outer flat pieces laser cut (per side), then filled in the sides... they turned out nice, which, one would hope they would since the guy spent nearly 10k on them (this in 80s money too). The guy is an utter bastard too - it was his projects that got me thinking "hey, this isn't too hard"....

this was the same car that I build regular, turbo headers for the car - a 68 Mustang with a 427 side oiler....

      Is chad still alive?

while waiting for my wife's Valentine's day present to dry, I got a moment to dink
here's what it looked like when I started

a bit of fitting later (there's gaps because eventually I'm going to push it back, then hammer the metal into a transition

I'm going to have a long day of welding ahead of me - but it won't be for a bit. Sunday I'm working on the Corvette - I need to get the body mounts in before April 3

so rather than doing body mounts, I welded on the transmission tunnel... I'm right at the point when it comes together pretty quickly.... then I have to do the slow, hard-to-see stuff again.... but I really need to get these body mounts done - I know why I'm reluctant; the car is a driver and pulling the nose and tail off will take it off the street... I'd almost rather do another C3 and sell this one.... but no one is stepping up to the plate to offer; so I guess I'm stuck.

as you see, I'm focusing on the Corvette

new floor (passenger side) v. old floor with the seats in the car

                    driver's side

shop dog, my mastiff stays until sundown; after that, he hides in the house and my lion killer comes out

                    cut and I thought "oops"

but no, it was the floor dropping, not the body or the frame
                    flintstones anyone?

and a good stopping place for tonight

in all fairness to my C3, I did try the hardest bolt and realized it was not coming easily... so I need to order parts (capture bolt at least, maybe entire mount because it looks pretty ugly - unless, of course, GM build that mount with it not attached to the frame.... yeah)

went skiing, am a bit sore so didn't get a lot done tonight

tomorrow I get my jump shear, so I can knock out the last of the pieces to complete the tunnel

I only wish my car was as cool as the VW bugs... sigh.

It is supposed to be sorta kinda, little fast in stock form...
Everybody knows how slow bugs are...
                            Thus the shock factor..
This and the bugs rule threads are my favorites on here..
                            Then I like Squirrel's Nova..
Hell! I cannot name what I like without hurting someone's feelings..
I do like almost them all..
Some are too technically advanced for my old mind..

I'm starting to get irritated at how clunky BS is now - look for your thread, roll down, nope, roll back up, next page, roll down, damn, roll up, next page....

anyway, I'll try to keep updating this thread, but eventually I'm going to say screw it....

                                back in its corner

next up is build the shifter and finish the top of the tunnel

um, houston, we have a problem.... this should be welded all the way around

I marked them white so I remember to weld them up after I blow it apart to paint it.
