Back before I got married I was in the process of stuffing the old aluminum 215 into a '63 midget. Small cars with big engines are a winning combo.
    I'm still learning

How are you going to mount the struts?

I had a chance to buy a 215 buick/4 speed when I had just started this car - you have no idea how hard it was to say no.... in fact, I almost bought the motor "just in case".....

as for the struts, the spider has reinforced spring pockets - I'll modify those for struts.... (sounds so affirmative, right?...) OR I may modify the spider suspension (and replace the upper/lower arms with adjustable stuff) for the rack and pinion and disk brakes - the problem with that (and the reason for the changing) is the suspension is rear steer (how's that for a resounding I dunno?)

yep, this one is a 3.08 posi (or whatever the ford equivalent is)... that coupled with the 4.6_ 1st gear should make this thing zip right along...

and I may not narrow them as there are flares in this car's future

Look for Mk VIII center section, thier aluminum so they'll cut alittle weight. Keep the rest of the SC stuff though, supposidly a bit heavier duty than the Mk VIII stuff. You can put Cobra hubs on and get Ford 5x4.5in bolt patterns instead of the FWD one on there now.

at this moment - the only thing I'm keeping on the rear is the center section, the rest I'll remake with tubes for adjustability - but I will replace it with aluminum if I can find it.... the biggest decisionmaker for this suspension is the cost - it was free. As for the front, I'm still not convinced I'll use anything but the rack... and maybe just for mockup since I don't think this will need power steering... I've been leaning towards using ranger hubs... but dunno...

If you're redoing all of the mounting and everything an Explorer has 31 spline stubs and is still aluminum. Can't help you on the front, I've been plotting Corvette C4 for the Riv...

is there anything you'd change on the SC suspension to make it better? I'm going to basically build a similar, yet out of DOM tubing, suspension - and, beside making it completely adjustable, I easily could move an attach point or strengthen an arm while I'm doing it...

Can't help you there. I just did a ton of research on the Ford 8.8 IRS both for a complete MN112 suspension and putting a diff only in a C5/6 rear suspension. The SC housing is iron and like 27 splines, the MK VIII is still 27 splines but aluminum, and the Explorer is 31 splines and aluminum but has different mounting. No idea on improvements I'd make for mounting or otherwise.
