Stiney - you're not the only person who knows tractor-parts suppliers.... actually, I bought that ages ago to replumb the Buick from Summit's sale bin.... have some real pretty neon green line as well (1/4")

And that little "time saver" the PO did cost me almost $3,000 (granted, I'm being reimbursed 1/3rd, but still - stop that)

New transmission shouldn't hurt your feelings / confidence. The buy-in sucks, but having it fail in front of company at a particularly needy time is worse.

I think about stuff like this when I price new 4x4 diesels. You make less payments this way.

I'm assuming you will have help for this install. RIGHT?

And the truck transmission (new one) doesn't shift into 4th gear... the only thing I'm glad about (at the expense of a good friend) is that I paid someone to put it in.

Good Lord, I hate to say this but my bad car karma, juju, etc must have tranfered to you...I'll teach you how to use the salt, candles and a few mumbled chants to help alleviate the situation.

That and you have to keep a 5th of rum handy to help with the ceremony.

Actually, I blame the Pastor of the church I attend. After I blew the transmission he was entertaining (while we were waiting for the tow truck) me with stories about all the breakdowns he's been around. Apparently, every time he goes to do something that communes with nature, the transportation car (always someone else's) breaks, freezes to the parking lot, or blows its transmission. So perhaps I know where the bad juju is located?

Do you think you can get him to stand still while you sprinkle the salt on him...

You know, with all the headaches, when a company does good - it's even more remarkable. California Starter and Alternator deserves a shout out.
Yep, the first alternator didn't charge correctly. Yet they rushed me a new alternator (which actually costs more than what I bought) to replace it and without any hesitation. They replaced my 10csi with a cs130 one wire alternator - complete with external voltage regulator that can be adjusted so that it's output matches the truck's needs.... and as everyone knows, you can only buy these alternators with a serpentine belt - they put the right pulley on it.... can't wait to put it on the truck.
