Just looked at the pics that Dave took of the car, that nose is a pile of crap compared to our other one. Altered is a class we will not be running anymore thats for sure. We got the record but thats boarderline scary. The other nose we have is wayyyyy more settled. That will be the nose we run in Maine. This thing is going in the trash. Ok i never throw anything car related away that got me a record. so back on the wall in the garage it goes

Wrong Mike! I was saying that (not very clearly) about Mike R's Mitsu. I'm sure you'll get a pass - and I would have liked to see you run at the April meet, too. The motor sounded great and no doubt there are many more passes in it.

Well looks like a piston or possibly trash in the intake valve, or maybe both. The #7 plug had 1/2 the ground strap melted off and it has 80% leak down on the cylinder. So at some point something happened who knows when. We changed the plugs after the dyno and they were fine so it was at some point during the run it messed up. I know the air fuel was very lean in second gear but there was also no load due to the spinning tires, once i shifted 3rd it was around the mid to high 12's. As long is it didn't crack a ringland and pinch the ring it will probably only need a dingle hone, piston, and some rings. I'm just hoping it didn't gore the block. Now we need to figure out how to get more fuel to all 4 corners. They were all lean and the middles looked perfect.... Off comes the head this weekend and we'll assess and go from there. I'm not to worried though.

That sucks, but it's a clear indication of fuel distribution issues.

I like the carb in the box idea but, that's what happens to lots of people running big boost and carbs, unfortunately.

It turns out the victor Jr's big flat plenum floor will most likely be the culprit. Our engine builder and his intake guy really recomends the super victor to fix the problem or at least be a good start at fixing the deatomization.

We are fairly sure that the mixure is bouncing off the floor of the victor jr causing it to deatomize b/c the floor is so low and big. If you look at the super victor the floor is way smaller with a more direct shot into the runners. This should help the problem considerably.

that seems a likely culprit to me.

Not sure what your budget is, but the way to isolate the problem without making guesses, is to run a wideband O2 sensor in just the single offending cylinder. Better yet to have 8 of them going at once (but that costs $2000), or maybe just one or two that you move around during dyno pulls.

You might find that your 12.5:1 AFR means "one cylinder is in the 15s and another is in the 9s"

If you have the resources it'll be helpful to monitor AFRs on individual cylinders.

Not in the budget, we have 1 wideband comander and it shows good. Its also 4 corners lean with 7 being the worst. The other problem is its always good on the dyno, we are going to try to make some 1 mile pulls on the dyno next time to see if it makes a difference.

Mike and Dave, the run looked good on video, I never got to see it in person.

Looks like you have a recourse for the fuel distribution problem, hopefully it cures your issue. Do you run any pyrometers at all, or hust the wideband?

Just the wide band. It needs a piston and an intake valve and it will be ready to run. should have it back together in about a week or so.
