You knew it was coming, Pistons??

So I'm figuring that since this motor I'm building has a 3.270 stroke and a 6.125 rod that I'm not going to find an "off the shelf" piston for it. So where's a good place to get custom pistons. I've done a little checking at ROSS pistons, I kind of like the way they have a set price for custom pistons and the coatings they put on them. It was like $800 for small block pistons with a 4.125 bore and the skirt coating and thermal coating was like another $50 per piston.

So is there anyone better to go to for these or at that point cheaper??

Who would you go to for a set of custom pistons??

Mahle makes a nice one. $50 per piston for coating seems high. I've used Ross and never cared for them. Probe makes a nice piston. I have arias gas ported, mahle will be the next ones.

mahle(or any nascar surplier), might be able whip up a set. as your use'n a nascar crank and rods,
they already know the pin height needed. I'd know your blocks (after machinging) deck height before ordering..
    head type, valve angle, etc.

By the time you get done with this, will it have been cheaper to buy an off the shelf rotating kit of the same displacement for the same intended use? How important is the rod ratio?

I got a Sonny Bryant billet crank and Carrillo billet rods with coated wrist pins for $800.

I'm thinking I'm way ahead at this point. ;)

As for rod ratio I really don't play into that, I'm looking at RPM. I also plan on having the block machined for roller cam bearings.

I want this motor to be a screamer!!!!!!!!
