There was this really cool little motel right on Woodward. It would be cool if we could take that over. I bet Donna remembers the name of it because I can't. ;)

He said something about parking at the McDonalds for $50 for the weekend.
I wasn't really paying attention as I was pondering where we going to get more beer.
I am not sure about being there Tuesday - I was thinking more like getting in sometime Thursday afternoon (leaving Florida on Wednesday)

I think the name of the hotel was the Palms hotel. I have their number and a couple other little hotels also. They are all just little no name hotels but only ones that are right on woodward. Will check them out and see how much they are and how soon we would have to have reservations for 2012. $50.00 for a weekend in McDonalds would be really cheap. We checked into a few places in the past and was usually around $100.00 for just Saturday. I know one place we looked into was 250.00 just for Saturday.

Last last year we talked to some people parked in the park and they were on the edge right on Woodward and was really cheap what they paid. Only drawback to that was that you can't drive in and out through the day. You can go in and park on Friday I think but once you leave you can't go back in. I don't think that we would like to do that. Like to cruise also.

There are other hotels that would be close but would really be cool to stay at one of the places right on Woodward and then would have a parking place during the day also.

i got the mcdonalds part....$50.00 donation to ronald mcdonald house gets weekend parking, and he would put a cone in is place, cruise and come back. but i thought he also talked about a small hotel that was resonable.

We will check out the McDonalds when we are there this summer. I know there is a McDonalds I think kinda near the one end. Will check into it and see what we would have to do to reserve spots. Might check it out for this year because we will for sure be going again this year. That would be a great deal if we couldn't get rooms right on woodward.

I have been to the cruise one of the early years. We cruised on vintage bicycles. I was on a 65 Schwinn Stik-shift Stingray. I bet you can't do that any more. I will probably be unemployed by then and may go up on Thursday or Friday. I hear it is grid lock on Saturday

we will be here for 3 + days

or do we stay out by the strip joints
or by the library or
near ford plant

the experience Ones have to get scouting

Mike, I can't tell you the date without looking at a calendar. It has been on the third Sat of Aug for fifteen years. I assume it will be next year also ;D

for what it's worth....there are at least two hotels on Woodward.....HEI in Birmingham, and a Radisson in Bloomfield Hills....both get kind of pricey during Woodward week, and, it's been my experience, that their rooms fill up each year just after that year's Woodward cruise finishes...... www.woodwarddreamcruise.com for some info; maybe those of us finishing the PT this year in Detroit can cruise Woodward, see what it's like; for my money, we should look at hotels in Troy or even the HEI in Warren, on Eleven Mile Road (where some PT'ers are staying).....many of those hotels are close to Woodward.....rexx

woodward is definately on my bucket list, but 2012 is way to far out for me to plan.
right now my goal is power tour long haul maybe 2012. time and money will tell.
