Last year, after dealing with the heat for Chattanooga, Birmingham, AND Mobile, hell, it's just like being in Nebraska in the dead of the summer. Swamp ass is nothing new for us Phil!
As far as the room...good lord Carbondale Econolodge...NEVER. Again.
Checking with the local tourism office is something that skipped me! Thanks for the idea on that.Andrew

That Econolodge could NOT have been worse than the Mid-Iowa Motel in Newton. I think the owner's name was N. Bates! What a DUMP!
Don't know about the rest of the people here, but in Georgia and Alabama, I plan to hit somewhere AIR CONDITIONED after leaving the venue!John

Well, I will say in Carbondale, we did hang out in the parking lot, and got to meet a bunch of good people.
I managed to help a couple with a flashlight, when the guy was trying to fix something that evening in the dark, with a bunch of guys holding up cell phones for lighting...
Also managed to meet the guy that was running around in a cool old scool bus:
Also was talking to a pair of guys cruising in a late 60's/ early 70's buick wagon. Got to look over a brand new Shelby convertable that was parked next to the GTS. Man, I thought Mel was screaming bloody murder about our room... :o this lady was having a fit.

Worst yet (even worse than the Mid-Iowa Bates Motel) was the ill-named Benchmark Hotel--Memphis, 2007. What a dump...and an EXPENSIVE dump at that!John

the worst....Knights Inn, Southbend, a few years ago. in addition to the filth, i had to worry about the crack head living in the room next door.Bruce, Sanford, Fl

I have a local BBQ restaurant insured so stopped in tonight and picked up a 1/2 rack of ribs!!! So tasty, still lickin' my fingers! ;D
